Glengarriff Tours

Reviewed By kalina-1 - Port Coquitlam, Canada

Just back from a 6 day tour with Gene & Brian. Incredible special 6 days!!!! Words cannot express the amazing experience we had (but I'll try). We were 2 couples who did not want to drive on the "other" side of the road so we saw the reviews on Trip Advisor and chose Glengarriff Tours. So glad we did!! This is truly the way to get around - they took care of us from the moment Brian picked us up at the Port in Dublin and took us to Kinsale. We then had Gene for the remainder of our trip along the south coast and up the west coast. Gene knows exactly where to go and has a lot of contacts throughout Ireland - everyone knows Gene and welcomes him. He goes above and beyond! He got us front row seats at a pub one night to see Blackie O'Connell, the Irish Piper (even though they had no more reservations) and then he came back and picked us up at 11:30 to take us back to our B & B. He introduced us to places that we would not have thought about if we were on our own. Our husbands golf so when Gene found that out he took us to a few golf courses - just to have a look - the welcome mat came out for Gene & us and the next thing you know we are having Irish Coffees in the bar at Doonbeg Golf course and went to the site of the upcoming Irish Open. Although we only had Brian the 1st day for driving, we got to spend an evening with him in Glengarriff in one of the local pubs. What a fun time! If you do have Brian as your driver, ask him to sing for you - what a voice!!!! He is funny, witty and full of information. Also we were lucky enough to meet Maya - Gene's wife - who invited us to their beautiful home and had a fantastic afternoon. Highly recommend Glengarriff Tours. We miss them already!

I discovered Coomarkane in March 2018 with my partner and daughter, and we fell in love with it so much that we came back again this Easter. I cannot describe how special this spot is. Audrey and Les's homestead and visitors centre is nestled away in the heart of a breathtaking valley just 5k from Glengariff next to a river. Their cabins are the perfect place to spend a few days - as a base for walkers and hikers wanting to explore the Beara Way, for couples seeking peace and quiet or for families with young children hoping to escape and be immersed in the sounds of nature. We woke to the sounds of lambs and birdsong each morning and were treated with freshly laid eggs for breakfast each day which we cooked up in a little outdoor kitchen next to our cabin. We spent the evenings sat around our campfire watching the moon rise and reading until dusk. It really is the most perfect spot for people who love being outdoors in nature. There are multiple walking and hiking trails on their doorstep for those who like hill walking, and Glengariff town is just a 10 minute drive through a beautiful forest reserve away where you'll find plenty of restaurants, swimming spots and activities for kids. Audrey and Les are incredibly warm and friendly hosts and were so kind to us and our daughter Nina throughout both our stays. We hope to get back down for a trip every year! .

Going to Garnish Island is a must. It is stunning. The ferry over was equally as good we got the Harbour Queen ferry company, lovely people gave great information, we got to see dolphins and seals up close, which my daughter loved. Walking around garnish Island was so nice and relaxing, and stunning to see.

The Blue Pool Ferry

Reviewed By MKatr1n256 - Dublin, Ireland

Visited glengarriff on the August bank holiday, took the blue pool ferry. Was greeted by a cheery old man who gave us lots of info on the boats and area. He gave us a special rate as there was 9 of us and made us promise we all tell our friends! We were told we had to wear masks but there was no mention of social distancing. Before boarding the boat we saw that one of the boat men was wiping the boat with spray and cloth. The island was spectacular, very tropical ! Would recommend everyone come via the blue pool ferry!
