So this was my first time using this service. I was quarantined at the Eden Resort in Beruwala and needed to get back home in Dehiwala. With all the rules and the details that needed to be shared i couldn't use my usual on demand hires. I found Ruwan via Google and honestly never regretted once. Will easily recommend his services to anyone He was very polite and made sure i knew everything I was getting into by using his services. The driver Tharaka also gets an honorable mention for his great hospitality

We are a mother and daughter running cooking classes ten minutes from the beach in Unawatuna. With a breezy, open kitchen overlooking the jungle where you can see monkeys, peacocks and many birds. First we take you to the market to select the freshest fish and vegetables for cooking. Then we will show you how to prepare them using delicious Sri Lankan spices and cooking in traditional clay pots.
Sea waves - Cooking Class We arrived at 10am - there were 6 of us and we were taken by 3 Tuktuks to the fish market just outside Galle fort - the fish are so fresh and well presented on their stalls - such a choice. Sosanti bought some tuna. we then moved on by our Tuk Tuk along a bustling street to the vegetable market. This was in an old building built by the Dutch (I think as a market place) - amazingly well preserved and a perfect covered yet open area for a market. Sosanti showed us loads of different vegetables that we’d never come across before - snake gourd, Bitter gourd Long Beans. She showed us what the fiberoot looked like when cut. We tried some strange fruits including red bananas- which we had to admit tasted very similar to the bananas we eat in the UK. Having bought the long beans, sweet potato, okra, aubergine and banana flowers we returned to Sea Waves in our Tuk Tuks. We were each given an apron, told to wash our hands then were set to work. Firstly Sosanti cut open a coconut- which if you strike it correctly will neatly split in half. We each drank its milk then She showed us how to shred the white flesh. Once all shredded and tasted, it was put in a blender with water and blended. This mixture was then sei Ed and the coconut pulp squeezed out. The coconut pulp was then returned to the blender with more water and the process was repeated ant this time the coconut pulp was finished with. Now we prepared the vegetables: Peeled and chopped sweet potatoes Peeled and Sliced 2 whole bulbs of garlic Chopped small red onions Chopped small slim aubergines Chopped okra We snapped the beans into I inch lengths All along things were being cooked On the fire The rice was cooked and she showed us how much water to add Each dish was chopped into a dish and the spices were added : cinnamon sticks, lemongrass, curry leaves, Unroasted, roasted and black curry powder Turmeric mustard powder and a few others Sosanti fried popadoms and put the tuna dish together but we were each involved in the veggie dishes. My favourite was the fried aubergine with Red onion and tomato salad - delicious It was all delicious and a really fun way to spend a morning We finished the event by eating the dishes - all wonderful. She let us copy the recipes to make them ourselves back home - which we are doing.

SINHARAJA RAIN FOREST is a world heritage and bio diversity hotspot which is also a major eco tourism destination in Sri Lanka. It is one of the few virgin forests left in the world. This evergreen rain forest, a UNESCO World heritage site, is one of the few virgin rain forests left to date. Damp mysterious and teeming with life, the Sinharaja forest reserve situated 120 KM South East of Colombo, is the last expensive stretch of virgin rainforest on the island. At just over 11000 hectares, line across the wet zone the Southern edge of the hill country, Sinharaja is an ecological treasure trove. It is staggering array of flora and fauna place it among the top bio diversity hotspot in the world. Sinharaja Forest Reserve - A UNESCO world heritage site - encompasses the largest single swath of remaining low land tropical rain forest in the country. Over 130 birds, species are found here including many of the 33 species endemic to the Sri Lanka. There also rich reptile population and myriads of insects species, many yet to be classified. Mammals scenes here including the purple faced langur monkey and the giant squirrel. Sinharaja is also home to the elusive leopard. It is preferable to explore Sinharaja on foot, which makes for the truly authentic jungle experience. Best starting point for visits are Deniyaya Mederipitiya to the East or Kudawa to the North.
This is a very big rain forest and in a single tour we can see only a very small area. We stayed in Rainforest Eco Lodge and took the tour from there. There were many leaches but hotel provided us leach socks. Even the small kids around 4 -8 years old joined with us and they too enjoyed the tour.

We visited Galle on a day trip from Negombo. It's very clean and surprisingly not many people around except many courting couples hidden in the nooks and crannies behind a strategically placed umbrella :) We have a lovely walk around the Clock Tower and enjoyed the views of the ocean, Internation Cricket Ground and activities going on around the fort. A few vendors around the place touting their wares but not pushy. Nice historic fort to visit for a few hours.
