Disneyland Resort features two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. Opened in 1955, Walt Disney’s original theme park, Disneyland Park is divided into 8 themed “lands”—Main Street, U.S.A., Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Mickey's Toontown, Frontierland, Critter Country, New Orleans Square and Adventureland. Sail with pirates, explore exotic jungles, meet fairy-tale princesses, and dive under the ocean and rocket through the stars— all in the same day. Combine the magic of Disney with the best that California has to offer and the result is Disney California Adventure, a theme park that celebrates the California in style. When you enter the gates of this park, you are transported to the land of promise, opportunity and glamour. Disney California Adventure is a journey from the California of yesterday to today and a tribute to this land of dreams. You can ride the Red Car Trolley in 1920s Los Angeles, take a raft down the rapids with a mining company on Grizzly Peak, travel down Route 66 or brave a white knuckled roller coaster in a seaside amusement park. Whether you prefer "action, comedy or romance," Disney California Adventure has something for everyone.

I am not an artist, but I still love the Animation Academy at the Disneyland California Adventure Park. Even though my drawing didn't come close to that of the real Disney artist that led the class, it was still fun and a great way to escape the rain that hit the park that day. The waiting area of the Animation Academy is shared with other attractions and features multiple screens of different sizes and shapes that show the creative process that takes place in creating some of the iconic animated scenes from favorite Disney movies. I didn't get to return to the Academy during my visit, but I know one of my daughters returned at least two more times since she truly is an artist. It is definitely one of the highlights for her when we visit Disneyland!

I love slipping by here to get out of the heat or just avoid the crowds. Total Nostalgia. During Christmas the "Voices of Liberty" come from EPCOT. They are amazing. They use the Great Moments with Mr Lincoln theatre to perform.

Welcome to the place where imagination is the destination. For young and old, big and small — it's the happiest place on earth! Come build memories with your family that last a lifetime as you discover the wonder of this magical, fantastical world. When you enter the lands that comprise Disneyland Park, stories come to life around you, immersing you in tales from some of your favorite Disney films.
We had a wonderful time there! It was not supposed to be crowded, according to crowd calendars, but I did think it was quite busy and some lines were long, which makes it difficult with two very young kids. It is natural to compare with Orlando and the possibility of getting Fastpass for almost everything (which does not happen at Disneyland!), so in that sense we could not go to all the rides we wanted to as it would be too tiring for the kids, but we definitely enjoyed it a lot and we were able to go to many. Since a lot of the rides do not have a minimum height limit, we really enjoyed a lot of options! We really enjoyed Buzz Lightyear (it is definitely one of our favorite ones - we got to go twice on the same day!) and the classicals like Small worls, Dumbo, Storybook Canal, Finding Nemo, Space Mountain (single rider line was really helpful as only my husband and I could go and we needed to go separately!) Highlight for the kids was Toontown!!! They loved every bit of it and had major fun to greeting the characters (including Goofy and Pluto that were just walking around!!!!)

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is one of my favorite interactive rides in Disneyland... Join Star Command, board your XP-40 Space Cruiser and help stop the Evil Emperor Zurg from stealing crystallic fusion cells. Destroy Zurg’s secret weapon by shooting targets with your laser pistols and accumulating points. The target values from lowest to highest are circles, squares, diamonds and triangles. When lit, the values are increased... the ride features two confrontations with Zurg himself. Aim for the hidden target on Zurg between his breast plates just below the Z on his chest for extra points. Astro Blasters takes you to infinity and beyond!

Fun ride, the staff really make it for this ride. Nothing crazy to see but the comedy is great. Highly recommend it if the wait is less than 20 min.

There is a whole team of expert mechanics that are dedicated to keeping this fleet of classic vehicles and the Disneyland Railroad all running. Most of these vehicles are original features of the park and have been at the park since the 1950s! If you want to skip the temptations of all of the stores, ice cream parlor, candy shop, coffee shop, and other luring locations on Main Street, these vehicles are a fun way to go to central Disneyland that breaks off into the different lands.

Soarin’ Around the World is an absolute must experience for ages 2-100! Fast passes are recommended but if you don’t have one, the stand by line moves pretty quickly. After the flight attendant, Patrick, welcomes you and gives instructions, you are escorted into a large room with 9 vehicles (multi passengers) that lift guests into the air over a gigantic IMAX screen. You will experience gentle motion, scents and wind effects as you soar over the Great Wall of China, Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps, Australia’s Sydney Harbor, Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, Eiffel Tower in Paris and more! The fireworks finale at Disneyland has a hidden Mickey.
