The newest extreme adventure in the Colca Canyon is a must-do while visiting this natural wonder. Only 5 minutes away from Chivay, next to "La Calera" hot springs. A series of increasingly exciting rides can be combined with some rock climbing. Courses range between 2000 and 6500 feet at speeds of 50-70 MPH. All this in beautiful scenery, with breathtaking views and friendly company. Fun for all ages!

The gallery “Artes del colca” is a store ubicated in the city of Chivay, half a block from the Main Square of Chivay. In this store you can see Xilography, handmade books and fabrics, jewelry of various artist, you can also find literature, masks, lots of Semi precious stones, t-shirts and magnets. This gallery is compromised with the care of the environment and the protection of animals.

Visited as a day tour from Arequipa in Dec 2019. Most people visit from Arequipa as either 1 or 2 day tour. I opted for one day tour as the itinerary looked largely similar, with the 2 day more leisurely and you spend more time in Chivay (where you spend the night) and you can explore or trek if you want. One day tour is more tiring (depart Arequipa at 3am, return at 5pm) but it is an option for those with limited time. Highlight of the tour is the canyon and spotting the condor. We reached the canyon at about 8.30am and had about 50 min to try to see the condor. Lots of people but plenty of spaces to walk away from the crowds and appreciate the amazingly huge and deep canyons. For me, even without spotting the condors, the journey doing the canyons was worth the trip. We didn’t spot any condors until we almost took off. Someone spotted just near our car and we dashed out to see. It was just one condor. It is difficult to take any photo as it flew very high but you could see the large wingspans with white stripes underneath. I was happy enough to have spotted one. As said, even without the condors, it is an amazing place to visit.

This was a great way to spend our afternoon It was 1 sole there and 1 sole back. Super cheap. Entrance is 15 soles. There are 5 pools we went in 3 of them. The others seemed to crowed by children. The pools were a nice hot temp and pretty relaxing. We shared a beer while in the pool. They did not care if you had glass. The lockers inside are also a bonus!

What a wonderful church. Very sad to hear that it virtually destroyed in the 1991 earthquake. So pleased that it has been restored and whilst small is very special to a small community which was hit very hard

We went to this Hot Springs, which was an option by our tour. There were a quite few changing rooms, so we didn't have any issue. The Hot Springs was very relaxing and nice. The temperature was great. The atmosphere was good, too. I saw some Hot Springs which looked like pools, but this was a real Hot Springs. If your tour includes this option, I'd recommend to go there.
