Cluj-Napoca is the unofficial capital of Transylvania, and though you (probably) won’t find vampires here, you can explore castles, fortresses, botanical gardens, museums and parks. Cluj-Napoca has a vibrant arts scene that embraces both the traditional and the progressive. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy classical concerts, theatrical performances, puppet shows and music of every genre, from jazz to modern pop to electronica.

Hey! Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Florin I am a passionate, optimistic and dedicated travel guide. I graduated in history in the beautiful city of Cluj-Napoca, the unofficial capital of Transylvania. I also volunteer as mountain rescuer in the Apuseni Mts. Natural Park. I traveled to different European countries and lived abroad in countries such as Spain or Greece. By meeting and understanding different nationalities and cultures, I have learned that the identity of a country, expressed by history, traditions, legends or superstitions, is the most important thing to be valued and promoted at the same time. Let me provide you a local perspective and an unforgettable travel experience in Transylvania.

We drive to the waterfall from Cluj through Huedin. The trip took approx 1.5 hours. The roads are excellent up to Huedin but from then on watch out for a few pot holes and oncoming traffic (the road narrows). The car park is 10 minutes walk from the waterfalls. The walk is an easy hike along a stream and trees covered in moss on one side and sheer cliffs on the other. A wooden platform allows you to cross the waterfall and take nice pictures. You can also walk a further 10 minutes and view the fall from the top but in the absence of a barrier you would need to watch young kids. A cross signifying someone who fell and died is a stark reminder. The falls were worth the 70km drive from Cluj especially if you stop at Huedin on the way home to see the gypsy palaces.
