Cirencester (/ˈsaɪrənsɛstər/ ( listen), occasionally /ˈsɪstər/ ( listen); see below for more variations) is a market town in east Gloucestershire, England, 93 miles (150 km) west northwest of London. Cirencester lies on the River Churn, a tributary of the River Thames, and is the largest town in the Cotswold District. It is the home of the Royal Agricultural University, the oldest agricultural college in the English-speaking world, founded in 1840. The town's Corinium Museum is well known for its extensive Roman collection. The Roman name for the town was Corinium, which is thought to have been associated with the ancient British tribe of the Dobunni, having the same root word as the River Churn. The earliest known reference to the town was by Ptolemy in AD 150.

I organise guided tours of the Cotswolds using a smart people carrier . The landscape of the Cotswolds has contributed significantly to the villages and settlements over the centuries. The pace of life is gentle and people have the time for visitors.

My fiancé and I had a brilliant time shooting clays. I’d never shot before but that didn’t matter at all - by the end of the session I’d been made to feel confident and really enjoyed it. Great fun, teaching and guidance on point, very safe and overall just a bloody good experience.

Visited as part of a varied group attending before a wedding that day. The event was professionally organised with good humour. Excellent pre-drive briefing with no information overload. Demonstration driving and tuition were both fantastic with enthusiasm. It’s a great and unusual experience so thoroughly recommended. I quite fancy the rally car experience too.

Discover a new hobby this year and book yourself an Archery/ Air Rifle/Crossbow beginner lesson at The Cotswold Range. A purpose built, low-capacity venue allowing supervised shooting with our qualified instructors (Archery GB and NSRA). Unlike many ranges we have sheltered shooting huts which allows us to continue even in bad weather. All lessons are done with beginners in mind however if you have done these activities before we are sure you haven't done it our way. With a huge selection of games available and Hall of Fames to be conquered, let the fun competitions begin! Our reviews speak volumes!
We had a great afternoon with friends doing the air rifles and archery, both were great fun and we found it very addictive trying to better our scores! The instructor was brilliant, both friendly and informative and made it such a fun experience for us all. Would definitely recommend!

The Corinium Museum is located at the heart of Cirencester the 'Capital of the Cotswolds'. Its principal collection consists of the highly significant finds from the Roman town of Corinium. However the museum today is much more than that, taking the visitor on a journey through time and charting the development of the Cotswolds from its prehistoric landscape to the modern day. The light and modern galleries offer the visitor an exceptional interactive experience. The museum is renowned for its learning provision, with an education centre and temporary exhibition space that ensure a vibrant, changing programme of events and activities for everyone to enjoy.
An absolute must I you’re visiting the town A real in depth look at the history of Cirencester and lots of mosaic floors to see Many finds from burial sites including some high status jewellery Worth every penny

A friend recommended that we should visit Cerney House Gardens, we were not disappointed. We liked the fact that we did not have to pre-book, there is an option to pre-pay by paypal via a link on the website or you can just pay cash on arrival, there is an Honesty Box for this. We weren't expecting to see much colour at this time of year, but there were lots of daffodils & hellebores in bloom. We started with the woodland walk, where we saw squirrels & pheasants, then spent some time wandering around the walled gardens, before sitting on one of the many seats that are dotted around the garden, to enjoy the sunshine & the lovely peaceful atmosphere. Completed our visit with a walk across the lawns at the front of the house that lead down to the pond. This is a lovely garden, we look forward to returning in the summer.
