A wide variety of pyramids, temples and sculptures have all been found at this famous Mayan archaeological site.
Fabulous. This site is quite extensive and diverse. Do look for the Tower Palace (which seems quite unusual). Go inside and explore some of the tunnels. (There are bats, if you want to look for them.) There is a very interesting quadrangle with the Temples of the Sun and Cross. Dramatic. There is also a ball court although that takes a bit of imagination. This site is a major attraction - so get there early

TOURS BY RESERVATION ONLY - 'Las 3 Tzimoleras' is located within a private eco-ranch in Tzimol, a municipality 12km from Comitan de Dominguez. The name refers to the 3 amazing waterfalls surrounded by lush forest. A must for adventure and nature lovers. We organise tours to the waterfalls including activities like canyoning, rappel, camping, horse-riding, hiking, swimming, and picnicking. Access is by 4x4 only, already included in the tour.

A must visit archaeological site in Mexico!! Located in the heart of the 'selva', it's worth taking a guide to fully grasp the majesty of the Mayan civilisation in Palenque. Our favourite :)

We spent the entire day here. It is a lot of walking and going up the mountain. Each viewing stop is more breathtaking. We went in November and it had been raining, the color wasn’t there but the force and amount of water made up for the lack of nice color in the water. Right now it is considered low season so the park is all yours! Once you reach the main mirador and the last zip-line tower keep going there are more miradors that not many people go to. It is hard exercise but definitely worth it! The steps are uneven so wear hiking shoes, take sun block, and mosquito repellent. There is one restaurant a few snack stands and in the park there is also bbq pits. Note the drive is not difficult but there are alot of stops/bumps on the road. There are 2 entrances to this park owned by different companies. I recommend the “Entrada Principal” which has the better miradors. This is the one we went into and from the looks of it, it was the right choice.

El Rancho Evergreen, located 45 min south of San Cristobal de las Casas, The ranch provides a great place for many outdoor activities like riding lessons, trail rides, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and bird watching etc. All within an aera of tranquility and in harmony with nature. Come for the day, stay over night or spend a week. The perfect get away...
I spent a day at the Rancho Evergreen and it was exactly what I've been looking for: nice people who care about their animals, about nature, about your wellbeing... and the food is delicious! :) It's definitely not one of those "hop-on-hop-off" horse ride experiences. You meet "your" horse, spend time with it and the ride is adapted to your riding skills. I definitely recommend staying at this place if you want to spend a day with horses or just in the nature to disconnect a little. Can be easily reached by public transport and taxi.

The former home of Frans and Trudy Blom, a Danish couple that worked to save the region's forests and native inhabitants, is now the headquarters of a foundation dedicated to continuing their work and also includes a museum.
Na Bolom is a few blocks off the main tourist areas of San Cris and a world away in terms of history, culture, art. This is a museum and gallery where you feel connected to the exhibits and the people that collected them. You can feel the love, passion and inspiration all around you, in the walls, beautiful courtyards and gardens. The personal items give you a sense of the very real people that called this home. Their important work continues in the association they left behind, the Na Bolom Cultural Centre. Definitely worth a visit. The restaurant is excellent too, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. One of the highlights of our trip to Mexico.
