Born out of a derelict Methodist Chapel, the venue has been developed by a hard-working group of volunteers, who work alongside a small team of staff which include a Theatre Manger, Technical Manager, Box Office Manager, Bar Manager and Theatre Technician. Regular visitors are amazed at the changes which are made to make theatre-going in Barnsley a pleasure.
Fantastic show, very well acted and put together, by all concerned. Heart warming show. The lamproom is a lovely little theatre, comfortable seats, nice bar area and very friendly staff

Took my son today for a try shoot at Phoenix and am impressed with these guys from beginning to end Booked over the phone with ease, confirmation and receipt sent through within minutes Got there a little early, booked in for the shoot very easily and enjoyed a coffee in their gorgeous lounge whilst waiting. Glen, our instructor “collected” us from the lounge and along with 2 others in the group gave us a brief tour before going into the instruction room where he gave us an entertaining but very thorough briefing on the gun, shooting and all relevant safety procedures He was so good he even managed to keep a 12 year old boy engaged !!! The shooting lanes themselves are amazing, modern, clean and very safe. We’re so nice felt guilty leaving the spent casings on the floor when we left ! The shooting was great fun and am seriously considering joining long term Glen was fantastic, entertaining whilst making sure everyone was safe at all times, professional yet very helpful even when my lad decided to adult gun was too heavy just before we went down to the shooting lanes. He changed his gun without issue and “trained” him thoroughly Honestly can not recommend this place enough. If you fancy trying shooting or just want a bit of a different day out you will not be disappointed

We’re re-opening the gardens, parkland and cafe at Wentworth Castle Gardens. You will need to book your visit in advance. Check What’s On for the latest information and to book. You will be turned away if you arrive without a booking.
We absolutely love this place and were so pleased when it was taken over by National Trust, an organisation that is doing a fantastic job on the renovations. We are SO lucky that we live within 5 miles of the gardens but even if you live a longer drive away it will be well worth the journey. There are acres of parkland to roam through, looking at the sheep grazing and the deer, with outstanding views across the countryside of South Yorkshire. The gardens are being beautifully restored and there is always something new to look at, with lots of seating tucked away in shady glades or on the edges of the gardens overlooking the stunning countryside. The house is beautiful, although not open to the public, and there are lots of monuments to explore and of course Stainborough Castle itself which is a lovely spot for a picnic. Unfortunately, at the moment the main tower is shrouded in scaffolding and tarpaulin as the next stage of renovation is undertaken, but hopefully this will be completed by June 2021 and the tower will stand in all it's glory again. Sturdy footwear is recommended as the whole site is on the side of a hill, although easily accessible by pushchairs and wheelchairs. We are looking forward to the Covid restrictions being lifted so that we can finally get a look inside the renovated Conservatory which looks amazing when you peep through the windows. There is a cafe (currently takeaway only and card payments only) and hopefully the National Trust shop will be open again very soon. There is also a children's playground which always looks very popular. Even though we are so close to home, when we visit we always feel as though we are on a 'day out' and are looking forward to taking a picnic in the summer and enjoying many more happy hours in this amazing place. What a gem!! Under current restrictions, remember to book online before you visit!!
