The Yeppoon Lagoon is the jewel in the crown of the Yeppoon foreshore precinct. The 2500 square-metre resort style lagoon pool is located right on the beach front and includes a shallow children's play area, an informal lap swimming area and a swim-up infinity edge with stunning views over the Keppel Islands.
This spot is amazing! So well laid out and super comforting with several lifeguards on duty. Truly has transformed Yeppoon into an amazing family getaway hotspot! It would be nice if there were more shady spots in the grassy areas to sit on busy days, but hopefully that will happen in time once some of the trees are better established.

At Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary our friends become yours. Enjoy a day with our friendly residents. Pet, feed and interact with kangaroos, koalas, possums, birds, snakes, reptiles, and a whole lot more! Cooberrie Park is a wildlife sanctuary and takes care of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife that are then rehabilitated and released back to the wild. These animals are victims of car hits, dog and cat attacks, along with birds falling out of nests, sick and abandoned animals. Once recuperated, Cooberrie Park permanently houses wildlife that can't be released back to the wild and houses rescued animals from all across Australia, including animals from the RSPCA along with confiscated illegal wildlife. OUR HISTORY... Cooberrie Park began as a botanical garden more than 100 years ago. There are a number of very old European and South American trees at the park, as the original owner was a European Botanist. Then, 45 years ago animals started to arrive and visitors were able to visit and interact with the wildlife. To this day, Cooberrie Park has adopted the same ethos inviting visitors to get up close and interact with a wide range of animals. Cooberrie Park is open plan and the kangaroos have 25 acres to explore!
You can see how much the family who runs the Sanctuary cares about the animals. Rangers and staff are always friendly and happy to help and talk and answer questions; very knowledgeable about Aussie natives. Plenty of space for animals to roam around and interact with people but also shelter if they don't feel like it. The enclosures for the ones that have to be enclosed are large and spacious and when you can watch any of the animals have their meals, their food is amazing and plentiful (better than what most people eat!). The grounds themselves are beautiful and you really can spend the whole day here. The prices here are cheap and although due to current Covid restrictions you can't do any animal encounters yet, they would otherwise be an extremely good deal considering there are really no other places to hold a koala! I would go there every weekend if I could. Thank you guys for caring so much about Australian animals.

Gorgeous collection of shells from all over the world, all seen for a gold coin donation. Kids loved seeing the different varieties on offer, as well as specimens of various marine life. We were able to identify the shells we had and were amazed by the variety. Well worth the stop, easy to spend 10 minutes to an hour perusing depending on your interest. Highly recommended.

Very nice relaxed beach. Lots of space and freedom for all at low tide. Very picturesque location. Kids had a blast running around and throwing the ball while the wife and I lapped up some sun.

Keppel Konnections offers return transfers to Great Keppel Island multiple times per day. Departing from Keppel Bay Marina, the journey to GKI takes just 30 minutes - perfect for a day trip or even an overnight stay.
We caught the ferry to GKI for the day and upgraded our tickets to include snorkeling gear. The ferry itself was comfortable and it was a fairly smooth ride across, with beautiful views of Yeppoon and the surrounding islands. Staff were friendly and the logistics of the day ran like clockwork. We loved our time on the island, spectacular beaches, great views and some surprisingly good snorkeling right off Monkey Beach. We took our own lunch but had a few well needed cold beers in the bar at the end of the day. Great day all round.
