Mossel Bay is a harbour town of about 130,000 people on the Southern Cape (or Garden Route) of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province. Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape Province), and 400 km west of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape Province. The older parts of the town occupy the north-facing side of the Cape St Blaize Peninsula, whilst the newer suburbs straddle the Peninsula and have spread eastwards along the sandy shore of the Bay.

Botlierskop offers various activities: Guided game drives: Experience close encounters with Rhinoceros, Lion, Buffalo, Giraffe, rare Black Impala and many more species. Horseback Safari to the majestic mountain valleys. Spa treatments: we offer various treatments including African massages. Bush walk: guide tour on foot through the reserve to spot the smaller things.
The reserve offers a special outride for experienced riders it was a lovely 3.5 hour ride. I was able to get very close to the the animals and experience nature as it's best! My guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out all sorts of animals from beetles to the white rhino and explained about animal conservation as well as the flora and fauna. The horses are well trained and look happy and healthy the saddle are endurance the reins are western. The lions are currently kept separate together with with elephants Understandably that's not somewhere were the horses want to go, so on an outride you won't see either, but there is still loads to see and who knows as Botlierskop is about to merge the 2 enclosures together so it might change and you just avoid the area where the lions are. Hope they still can offer outrides or at least horse riding safaris, I think there is no better way to see wildlife up close.

The Diaz Express provides a scenic rail experience between Hartenbos and Great Brak River in the Garden Route of South Africa. The railway line is winding through a tunnel, over bridges, past precipices and indigenous plant life, with beautiful views over the Indian Ocean. Coupled with this excursion, is the fine cuisine and wines of the Transkaroo restaurant, in the old station building.

Steeped in history, ReedValley was established on one of the oldest farms in the Mossel Bay district and now boasts a selection of export wines. Our tasting venue is the only physical location where you can enjoy our wines. We also offer two unique dining experiences food and our large fireplace ensures a cosy atmosphere even in the coldest weather. There is also a play area for kids.
We visited ReedValley in December 2019 for wine tasting. Francois de Jager was our wine tasting host, with his in depth knowledge of the farm, it's history, the wines that are produced there and great hosting skills he really made it an unforgettable experience. We also enjoyed the rest of the activities available on the farm and can definately recommed a visit to ReedValley when visiting Mossel Bay and surroundings

We enjoyed visiting this museum with our family. There is a variety to see and the museum is very well maintained. The history and information on marine life was very interesting and well preserved. The life size replica of the ship is awesome to see and to learn more about SA’s history. There is so much to see and do and entrance was only R40 pp. We recommend this activity!

"Taste the Garden Route" Jakkalsvlei Private Cellar is situated 50km outside Mosselbay next to the Outeniqua Mountains. Tasting & Sales: Monday - Sunday 10:00 - 16:00. Things to do: Wine tasting, Craft Beer, Restaurant, Live Music, MTB Single Track, Hiking Trail. Take time off and come explore this unique off the beaten track wine farm, situated in one of the most beautiful areas in the Garden Route.
Jakkalsvlei is the only local winery in the Mossel Bay area and is hidden in the hills close to Herbertsdale, a small settlement about 50km northwest of Mossel Bay. They offer wine tasting , both normal and pairings, and lunch. I recommend their pizza, which is the best I’ve ever had. A real hidden gem!
