Visited the mine on a recent breakaway in Carrick on Shannon. Such a worthwhile experience and would definitely recommend a visit. The staff are such lovely welcoming people and Maurice gave a fantastic tour of the mine providing lots of interesting information as well as first hand accounts of his own mining work. Amazing to see the conditions that people endured. The views from outside the experience are breathtaking but can be viewed from the fabulous coffee shop inside also. Really enjoyed ourselves!

The exhibition is very good, with an impressive bookshop for history lovers, the cafe has very good coffee and cake and the best of all is the guided tour by Mike McCarthy. It is excellent! He weaves together myth, archaeology, history, folklore into a great story. Very interesting and entertaining. The guided tour is a must for anyone interested in the story of Maeve.

This was such a lovely picturesque castle to visit, a good board with history of the castle and plenty of areas to run around for young children. Also had the added benefit of a duck pond nearby and a park for all ages to play in :)

An 18th century fully restored windmill. Its the oldest windmill in Ireland and the only working windmill in the West of IOreland'
We enjoyed visiting the windmill - the gentleman who showed us around was very knowledgeable and could answer any question we asked with his passion for this restoration project clearly evident. The children loved climbing up to the top of the windmill and 'helping' engage the sails. Spent around 90 minutes here in total, though some of that was just sitting out in the sunshine on the grass enjoying the peaceful setting. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

King House is a beautifully restored Georgian mansion situated in Boyle, Co. Roscommon. First built in 1730 as the seat of the King family, a powerful local landowning dynasty, the house later became a military barracks and recruiting depot for the famous Irish regiment of the British army, the Connaught Rangers. The house is now open to the public as a museum dedicated to bringing its history to life. The house is also an art gallery housing the Boyle Civic Art Collection, the third largest public collection in Ireland. We look forward to your visit!
Well worth a visit ! Packed full of history and interesting exhibits. Our tour guide was fantastic, full of enthusiasm and information. The new Mary McAleese exhibition alone is a reason to visit.
