Creux du Van

Well worth the trip out here - we did the circuit hike. First half pretty steep up and a bit muddy. Most descriptions didn’t mention but there are quite a few places to have a meal on the way including the farm at the top, as well as to refill water. Also great scenic picnic spots so worth coming for the day.

Lac de Neuchatel

Really beautiful lake promenade in the center of Neuchatel, it is possible to sit on concrete or also in the pebbles of the pebbles beach. Directly access to the water from the center so you can swim! But limited space. Visited in winter, a sunny and warm day and everyone was sitting outside enjoying the sun, it was an awesome feeling. Amazing sunset too.

Chaumont Panoramic Funicular Railway

Reviewed By 9tania1616 - Bristol, United Kingdom

For me the ride in the funicular up to Chaumont is just part of visiting Neuchatel, it's essential and something I've done since being a small child! It never disappoints. The funicular is reached easily by bus (no 107) from the town centre. It's 4.20 CH francs each way and takes about 10 minutes to ascend and descend and the views, in both directions, are lovely. Once at the top, there's a small restaurant and various walks. You can also drive up to Chaumont. The view is fabulous and particularly if you go up the viewing tower. It's one CF franc per person and there's a change machine in the funicular station. The view from the top of lake Neuchatel and the alps is so worth the few steps up the tower as it takes you right above the trees. Even on a foggy day, when we couldn't see across the lake in Neuchatel, once in Chaumont and above the clouds, you see the whole Alps range including Mont Blanc to the right and the Matterhorn and the Eiger to the left. It's beautiful and spectacular.

International Museum of Watches

Reviewed By cathyc19520 - Elverson, United States

This is a must-see in this region of Switzerland, especially on a Sunday when most of the country is shut down. Admission price is modest and gains you entrance to surrounding museums. The exhibits are rich in detail, easily accessed, and full of information, especially if you use the audio option, which only requires ID for use. Our eyes were opened to the wide world of timepieces and care in which they were crafted throughout the ages.

Maison de l'Absinthe

The House of Absinthe, a must-see place for the "Green Fairy"! The cradle of absinthe is located in the heart of Val-de-Travers, where the famous Green Fairy took flight, survived a century of prohibition and where, today, twenty producers distill the famous elixir while five farmers cultivate the medicinal plants necessary for its manufacture. The development of this unique heritage and its history is at the House of Absinthe, Môtiers. Binding innovatively culture, economy and tourism, this center presents its history, with the mythical period of the underground and its recent evolutions. Between myth and reality, the visitor discovers the deep and authentic links that unite the plant, the drink, the terroir and the identity and to finish in beauty ... more than thirty kinds of absinthes are to be tasted!

Nice place to visit and discover the secrets of one of the most amazing beverages. The proposed tasting is very interesting and helps you to understand the authentic absinthe styles.
