Pointe de la Torche

Reviewed By Uslondon5

We came here as an extended family of 11 (kids and adults). Some wanted to bodyboard, some wanted to surf, some wanted to chill, and others wander and explore. It ticked everyone's boxes! Parking was plentiful (in the morning anyway) and the beach vast and lovely. A few of our group needed to hire wetsuits and surf boards which was easy to do. We didn't have to give an exact time we wanted them for which worked very well. Surfers and bodyboarders are separated, and lifeguards are there to make sure everyone adheres to this and are safe. Waves were reasonable when we went which was great for our fairly beginner surf group who managed to get up onto the board lots of times, and wonderful for the bodyboarders who loved whizzing along when catching a good wave. A couple of downsides: 1. The toilets next to the cafe were awful. 2. 2 of our group got stung by a Weever Fish. These fish injected poison into 2 of our surfers. 1 of them was enjoying himself so much he left it for about an hour and had to be pulled into the beach as the pain got progressively worse throughout that time and he couldn't stand or walk. Thankfully a lovely Frenchman on the beach spoke perfect English and asked what was wrong and explained the Weever Fish problem and directed our son to First Aid who put his foot (and my nephew's too) into hot water which apparently draws the poison out. All okay after 30mins or so! Advice is to seek First Aid as soon as sting happens rather than wait for poison to spread! Despite these 2 downsides, we still absolutely loved this place, would definitely return and recommend anyone else to go there.

Great place for a few hours of tree climbing. It is bigger than it looks with all the different levels. Our grandchildren (5 & 9) had a great time here. The staff are really good and friendly. Taking the time to ensure the kids were safe to go on the smallest of the routes. After completing the smallest level they were told they could do it again if they wanted to. Our granddaughter decided on going up a level which she did twice! The adults also had a great time, with our son (29) doing the hardest. Definitely worth visit and would definitely go back again.
