Yogyakarta boasts stunning architecture and a truly spiritual sensibility. The ancient Hindu temples of Prambanan look like hand-drizzled sand castles, while the Sultan's palace is reminiscent of a gilded music box filled with jewels. Known for its arts and handicrafts, Yogyakarta is a cultural hub, a nerve center for traditional and modern puppetry.

SAARAH is a luxury day spa and body sugaring for women and couples with a focus on using natural and organic products to promote overall wellness and relaxation. You will be greeted at our door by one of our staff and from that moment we will be doing our best to ensure your experience is perfect. From enjoying a welcome drink while you view our treatment menu, or re-energising under the touch of one of experienced therapists, SAARAH will take care of you while you are with us. For treatments of 3+ hours in duration per person, pick up and drop off service within Yogyakarta city is complimentary (subject to availability, contact us for details)
I cannot rate my afternoon of pampering at SAARAH day spa highly enough. I started with a four hand massage, followed by a microdermabrasion facial, then a mani/pedi, and everything was just divine. The quality of all my treatments was just excellent and so relaxing. I have very sensitive skin but did not react at all to any products (like I have at some other spas around Indonesia). The staff were very skilled and friendly. I will definitely be back, possibly on a weekly basis!

Kaula Leather is definitely the workshop for all lover leather. Situated in Yogyakarta, this private leather course propose to create the items of your choice and learn all the process of making handmade leather products. The workshop is catered to your want: a bag would take about 2 or 3 days, while smaller items such as wallets or belts would take one day. Materials and lessons are provide.
Some workshops are just to attract tourists, make them spend a few of hours and take their money. Not this one! The men there are real professionals, passionate about working the leather and helping create anything you want from scratch. They have got ideas and you can rely on their expertise to know what will turn out to look good or not, right down to the details of the item. As a first timer with no experience whatsoever, I was a bit scared of how my product would look like once finished (many flaws etc.) However, I was pleased with their perfectionism to the extent that by the time you finish whatever it is you're making, the product looks just perfect! Whether you're interested in learning how leather items are made or just want to spend a day doing arts & crafts, I highly recommend Kaula Leather Workshop.

Javanese Heritage museum
This museum located in Kaliurang and quite far from downtown Yogyakarta. However, it has exquisite exterior and interior building with natural design. It has lots of private collection from collectors that remark the Mataram and Ngayogyakarta Sultan. This museum is private owned, there for quite pricey for the entrance fees, but it's worth it. They also provide tour guide included with entrance fees.

Another additional stop on our itinerary. For 200 years this majestic mosque has provided the central focus for Muslims in the city. Our guide asked for us to be allowed in, a example of the gentle form of Islam practised on Java was that we were permitted to wonder in, provided with a sarong and shown how to do the ritual washing. It was serene. A privilege to go there.

You can join local saturday mass here at 4 pm using Javanese language at the open church. Feel very peaceful even though I can't understand the language. There's a temple next to the church and inside there's Jesus Christ statue. You can pray here and take holy water from 9 tap water beside the temple (candi). Bath room available here. Visitors can take a bath without using soap, shampoo and no towel needed to dry your body. The water is easy to evaporate and your clothes will not get wet. it's magic and people believe if you take a bath here, it will release your pain and you will be healed (physically and mentally). I do believe that :)

Private Museum which conserve batik as culture heritage of Indonesia. Batik Workshop and Visit Museum to learn more about batik.Visit us before buying batik:)
I’ve been to this museum several times for guiding friends, and I still enjoy it. with UNESCO declares Batik as Indonesia cultural heritage in 2001 and also World Cultural Council chooses Yogyakarta as Batik City in 2014, I think add more to fancy people buying Batik whenever coming to Yogyakarta, and for that, I always recommend visiting this museum, at least to know the history of Batik, types, and its evolution. imo, it is always nice to appreciate using Batik when knowing its history and how hard making it. one of their collections is also registered in MURI (the Indonesia World Records Museum) another uniqueness of this museum is that it’s a family-owned batik museum which was opened since 1979, and it’s located on the same compound with their hotel. the grandson acts as the guide, and he really has great knowledge about Batik. the museum was started by his grands, Mr. Hadi Nugroho & R. Ng. Jumima Dewi Sukaningsih. Visitors can try fabric dyeing around 1 hour with the price of 40.000 IDR and can be as your souvenir. many my friends, especially the foreigner ones enjoy that activity and back home they framed their own result. TIPS: if wish to get better explanation in English, you better call first the museum and hoping to have available guide in English. You might be lucky to have the grandson.
