When It's Dark, I See the Lights! I relocated from Brazil to Alaska in 2001 and have been chasing and photographing Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) ever since. I never heard about the Northern Lights before I moved to Alaska. The first time I saw them it was love at first sight. That was it! From there on I knew what I wanted to do, I wanted to share the Auroras with the world and show them to everyone who doesn't have the opportunity to see the Northern lights. That's what I have been doing since. From long and cold nights photographing amazing auroras through the skies, and teaching northern lights photography workshops, to the summers explaining and showing the auroras to the ones that are not able to visit Alaska in the winters. I am a photographer in Alaska, living the dream life of many photographers. Many of my images were published by NASA, Space Weather Live, Washington Post, space.com, Nature Photographer Magazine, Society of Nature Photographers, just to name a few.
Like most of Talkeetna, the shop is plain and unassuming on the outside. The photos inside and a hidden gem. Dora has taken some of the most beautiful photos on the aurora, all with other interesting subjects in the picture. A float plane, an old truck, a mountain, or a tree all add to the incredible shapes and colors of the aurora displayed behind or above them. The metal prints are beautiful, but the photo versions are equally lovely.

The "little red schoolhouse" has returned to it's former glory and is now the "little WHITE schoolhouse" once again. Absolutely worth a visit for anyone looking to get off the tourist track and learn a little more about the history of this quirky little town, gold mining, the railroad, Denali and aviation.

Birch syrup taste, tour, and shop. We offer a free tour of our birch syrup production facility with a short video showing the spring sap harvest, a tasting room with samples of all of our wild harvested birch and berry products, and an all-Alaska gift shop featuring the best in Alaska produced foods and functional art - local pottery, bowls, baskets, and tiles. We have a sweet selection of Alaska cookbooks, foraging and outdoor guides, and children’s books along with cards and art prints. We serve locally made ice-cream including, of course, birch - good coffee, chaga tea, and baked goods using birch and wild berries. Taste the springtime goodness of birch sap in our Alaska Wild Birch Water beverages. Come taste our “goods from the woods” and experience a true Alaskan cottage industry.
Needed to burn a little time while awaiting to board our flight with Talkeetna Air Taxi. We pulled in here to check out the Birch syrup. This was very entertaining and educational. The gift shop is perfect for bringing back unique Alaska gifts. The staff was very friendly. The syrup is fantastic. I highly recommend stopping in here when in Talkeetna. Can spend 10 minutes or an hour. You will be glad you stopped.

Stop by our brewery's tasting room to enjoy our craft beer, cider, mead, spirits, and ready-to-drink cocktails (available for here or to-go). While you're here, peruse our wide selection of apparel and participate in one of our Behind the Scenes tours. Visit our website to check out our summer tour and food truck schedules.
A group of 10 of us touring Alaska were lucky enough to be able to sit outside and enjoy some great beers and great food. A large selection of beers. Everyone tried something different. I was disappointed I did not try any of their meades. I ordered The Bachelor, a large slice of reindeer meatloaf served with mashed potatoes and peppercorn gravy. Simply delicious! Everyone enjoyed their food on a beautiful day.

Spent an hour or two before dinner enjoying quality bourbon (they had a great selection) and fun “frontier” atmosphere. Marnie took good care of us and we enjoyed meeting others and finding out where they were from and what they planned to do here.

This shop and gallery has a very good variety of Alaskan-made items, and the pricing was good. We enjoyed our time browsing and purchased quite a few things to take back home as gifts!
