I provide the classes, Japanese traditional cuisines - "Ichi-jyu Sansai", one main dish, two side dishes, rice, and soup and Wagashi (traditional Japnese sweets). I don’t intend this class to be a “cooking school’,” but I want you to feel relaxed and have fun cooking as if you were at home! I am open to any suggestions or ideas for what we can cook together in class. I hope that you can teach me some dishes from your country too! Please feel free to contact me if you are interested!

There are two techniques that are taught during the lesson. First, is to strengthen the passaggio. This is where the voice begins to crack, the place where the voice begins to encounter difficulty. Learning to strengthen this muscle will connect the flow in the voice, while extending the range high and low. Second, is learning to use the body to power and support the voice.

Chris has been coaching my 10 year old daughter for about 6 months and in this time we have seen not only a huge improvement in her command of her voice but she seems to really understand and execute the techniques Chris teaches. She loves her weekly lessons and I would happily recommend Chris to anyone seeking vocal / singing coaching.

Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum

The Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum was established on November 3, 1985 by Machiko Hasegawa (1920-1992) and her elder sister Mariko. Machiko Hasegawa is known as the creator of the cartoon series “Sazae-san.” It is one of the most well-known comics in Japan. They opened the art museum to show off their various collections comprising over 800 works of art, including Japanese paintings, Western paintings, glass, ceramics, sculptures, etc., which were purchased based on their personal preferences in order to make them accessible to society. Exhibitions are held four or five times a year. The works are exhibited without reference to a particular writer or genre. The Machiko Corner displays ceramics, clay dolls and watercolor paintings that she created freely, as well as Machiko’s original drawings for “Sazae-san,” “Mean Granma,” “Apron Aunt,” etc. Every summer there is a special exhibition that introduces ‘Sazae-san,” in both the original comic style and animation.
