Due to current Coronovirus restrictions we are sadly unable to offer our usual guided tours - instead visitors are given leaflets (English or Greek) with detailed information regarding the exhibits. Staff are of course available to answer any questions you may have. The number of people allowed in the Museum at any given time has been reduced in order to comply with the social distancing measures. We will resume our guided tours as soon as the restrictions are lifted. Bouboulina’s Museum is family-owned and since opening in 1991 has been visited by over 500,000 people, who have been moved by the fascinating story of this heroine of the Greek War of Independence. .**Also available are leaflets with Bouboulina's story only , in Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish
Bouboulina's Home. A fantastic place. Very informative, very touching. True Greek History, bravery, inspiration for all.

Panagiotis and Nektaria started their business in March 2001, with the simple goal of sharing what they already produced - their famous pistachios. Panagiotis, a farmer by trade, has spent 30 years working with pistachio production and cultivation. Nektaria is a passionate confectioner, putting all her love into the sweets she makes using pistachios. Today, at their shop located on the pedestrian street Pan. Ireioti 57, behind Aegina's well-known fish market, you can find Panagiotis' pistachios freshly roasted every day - with or without salt, shelled or raw. Also try the famous housemade pastelli, made with toasted sesame, pistachios and honey, and the pistachio marsipan with caramel. Or go for the traditional almond biscuits, baklava with pistachios, or one of the many spoon sweets and marmalades. - The pistachio came to Aegina in the early 1900s, when N. Peroglou, a doctor, brought the first trees with him from Syria. He kept his plantation hidden at first, but once the secret got out, more plantations slowly but steadily spread over the island, and today the nuts are produced mainly through monoculture. The Aegina pistachio was grafted onto the Chios terebinth tree, and is a variety unique for Aegina island.
Helpful, friendly staff welcomed us into this shop full of treasures which stocked Greek wines, rare spirits and liqueurs, nuts in abundance, concoctions and gift ideas galore.Well worth a look.

Marialena Maramenou, daughter of the jewellery designer P. Maramenos, grew up in an environment where jewellery design was strongly influenced by both traditional Greek forms and innovative ideas. Exposed to her father's creations, who has been a leading designer in the field of jewellery since the late 60's, drawing his ideas from the harmony of Greek nature and Ancient Greek symbols, she knew and appreciated the role tradition plays in designing modern jewellery. Marialena, after studying Marketing in Britain, realised that she had also the interest and the skills to delve into her own world of jewellery where she experimented with new materials and designs. After attending jewellery seminars at SynApeiro - Jewellery Space, in Athens, for three years she decided to venture out on her own and opened a shop at Hydra island. Her choice to live in Hydra, a result of her strong wish to leave Athens for a smaller more humane place, makes her hope that will allow her to create more design
