Its internationally renowned collection comprises more than 5,000 works of art from various cultures, creating a unique dialogue between the Old and New Worlds.
Coming to Ponce, the last thing I expected to find was such a well curated museum. And much to my surprise, it had one of my favorite pieces - Flaming June. The museum's history is interesting and it shows how personal taste can create an amazing collection. Small space, easily accessible art. Definitely worth the time and visit. Small gift shop that doesn't take advantage of the collection. Absurdly low entry fee - which I appreciated because it allows more people to access the collection. However, I strongly encourage those who can to donate so the museum can continue to benefit future generations.

Valerie and Eric, the owners, are absolutely wonderful people! You can tell they love what they do and want to make sure everyone who comes through their door loves their shop as much as they do! Valerie makes all the stained glass pieces you see there as well as some of the ornaments. She's also a photographer. Eric also does some painting and has some of his art for sale as well. They also feature lots of other artists' pieces including paintings by Nemo. We have purchased several Nemo painting from their shop. They also carry some jewelry, clothes, and lots of other art pieces made by locals. This is an absolute MUST shop to go to when in Rincon!!

This residence is a beautiful example of the 19th century urban architecture. On its interior, art, , sculptures, and furniture built by Puerto Rican's cabinetmakers for the Cauntino family can be found.

Crab Island is the first rum distillery in Vieques.
Iván, owner/distiller of Crab Island Rum has it all going on! He can explain all of the nuances if his own runs and the rum business (and how other get away with selling rum made elsewhere with a PR label, what?!). He is the real deal! He has studied the process, spent years creating his recipes and put his sweat, blood and tears into this business. The end product is pretty good tasting rum! He has a couple of flavored rims, which are made from all natural products. The orange infused rum is not an artificial flavor, nor is the coffee rum. Both excellent. His other two runs are 1 year old. He has rum in the barrel, my guess is that before too long he will be developing a longer aged rum. That will be something to look forward to. :) Support locals, spend a little more $ for a fine product and a true entrepreneurship!

This loudly-colored building in black, red, green and yellow, was built for a volunteer fire-fighter's brigade.
