What an wonderful experience. We were picked up on time by the owner Aung Aung which then took us to the property where we met three Elephants, the baby, her mom and sister. We first bathed them in a muddy bath, after we cleaned our selves, we went to their playground, walked through the forest, fed them and spent time with them, such well-behaved Elephants, well the little one was a bit cheeky. We continued to walk up the forest to a high point climbed into a tree house (a little bit scary) and watched the sunset , it was so beautiful and peaceful. Aung Aung explained a lot about the Elephants and you can ask him loads of question, on top, he is a very good photographer. Once the evening is over, he will send you all the beautiful pictures. Come Once Come Again. Well Done Aung Aung.

Dating from 1896, this is the only Jewish temple remaining in the city.
We got there about 11:00 AM ( note that the Syngagouge opens from 10:30 AM to 3:30 AM). It's so fascinating to know that Rangoon has some good number of Jewish back in the 1900s and interestingly Israel has a very good diplomatic relationship with Burma back then. Once in the downtown of Yangon this is a place where people should pay a visit! It's a great piece of history!

.....on entering this series of caves. It's a very holy site and to ensure access for all there is a choice of covered walk up or elevators. We took the elevator up but walked back down. There is so much to see that you really just don't know where to look first and there are quite a number of caves and caverns to visit. There are Buddha images of every conceivable size, shape, style, colour in every nook and cranny. All been lovingly placed there by some devout family or individual and all bearing different meanings and intentions, I'm sure, dependent on the donor. This is an amazing experience. Don't miss it if you can possibly get there. The path up from the carpark is fun. It has all sorts of large concrete images, notably a large globe where even NZ is featured (good one, Burma), a series of statues which more or less equates to Shakespeares speech for Jacque about the Ages of Man, and most amusingly, an enormous and supposed to be scary spider perched right by the steps! Do note that shoes have to be left behind and that the pathways and steps inside the cave can be slippery and uneven. A most facsinating visit. Allow at least a couple of hours.

Small but well-taken care of, this is a beautiful wood make monastery. The nearby Paya with different sizes of statues, glass works and volunteer-contributed restauration is worth a visit.

I really enjoyed the Mandalay Marionette Theatre. The show was in a small theatre, which seats about 65 or so and is small and intimate. You are close to the stage, the owner and actors come out to talk and show you how the puppets work. The show is explained in English, they reveal how the puppeteers are working, and the performance is fun and interesting to experience. It is well worth the hour, it adds a little bit of local culture to any visit to Mandalay, and it helps keep this traditional art alive. I recommend to anyone to visit, esp if you want to learn more about Myanmar. Well done and thanks :)

The pagoda has an unusual shape - square at the base. The central figure of the Buddha is gradually deformed due to the desire of pilgrims to add their piece of gold to the statue. There are also several statues with their own - medical - properties.

Only one and a half hour away from Kalaw (driving a motorcycle) this cave is a great place and the perfect thing to do before starting the trekking to Inle lake. More than 8000 budha status inside gives this cave a really unique atmosphere. it is not crowded with tourists (at least when we were there). on the other hand you will get to see a lot of local people coming here on a pilgrimage. Important to note : like any other Buddhist place you must respect a certain dress code: no shoes or socks, no short pants (up knee level) and for the ladies no spaghettis strap, naked shoulders etc... I highly recommend to visit this place.

This place is mind-boggling in many ways, its sheer size and dimensions, its architectural design with roof top windows, with its more than 500tsd. Buddha images decorating the interior walls, its huge Borobodur style golden Stupa, and its many worshippers who came that special day (Buddha day at full moon) in festive mood. There is a huge market on the outside of the compound, and it was not easy to find parking and our way to one of the gates into the compound. Likewise, you can easily lose your sense of orientation once you are inside and want to find your way back to the carpark. Please calculate at least 3 hours for paying a meaningful visit to the pagoda. It is highly recommended indeed.

Probably one of the best temple in Bagan with nice paint work describing the life of Buddha.. No photo and video allowed inside the temple
