Excellent spot to enjoy a wide variety of libations. Great selection of tasty cigars and the young lady behind the bar is quite attentive and knowledgeable about what’s what. Well done.

Sugar Shack

Sugar Shack is a gift & candy store. Stop and take a walk down memory lane. Our shop allows you to remember the sweets of your youth and to create memories with your children. A must see in Bastrop

If you have a sweet tooth, this is your shop. If you need a gift or souvenir, this is your shop. The aroma of chocolate when you enter is intoxicating. Sugar Shack is a delightful store of truffles and chocolate dipped or covered almost everything. YUM! They also feature old fashioned candies. Gifts of all kinds. I often shop there when I'm looking for something special for someone special. Or just for something unique that I know will be cherished. Shopping here brings a smile to my face. Wonderful store. I hope you'll go see for yourself. <3

Bastrop County Museum and Visitor Center

Highlight of your visit to downtown is the remarkable History Museum and Visitor Center operated by the Bastrop County Historical Society. Besides picking up information/materials about Bastrop at the Visitor Center, take some time to tour the museum and discover the community’s fascinating history that started back in 1832, four years before the Texas War for Independence. The first class exhibits include several videos as well as an array of artifacts.

Reviewed By timrG5523BW - Chesterfield, United States

The Bastrop County Historical Society runs this museum and visitors center right on Main Street. All self-guided, you can start with historical videos in their small theater and transition through history. Very inclusive and in-depth historical summaries, plenty of artifacts and displays. We (party of four) were very impressed. A wealth of local history with significant ties to the larger national history were detailed too. Admission was $5 per adult...well worth the cost. Highly recommended.
