This small town museum is top notch! Mossy Creek Pottery

HANDMADE IN THE NORTHWEST. Mossy Creek Pottery was founded in 1973 on six acres bordering the beautiful Siletz Bay Wildlife Refuge. Located just one scenic half-mile off U.S. Highway 101, the near century-old farmhouse is easily found as you travel on Immonen Road through a forest of spruce and hemlock. This hidden gem is home to the work of 40 Northwest artists. Inside you'll find a wide assortment of functional and decorative pottery in an array of glazes, representing the many and varied styles and techniques of our local and regional potters. Discover a little treasure for yourself or find a gift for someone special. There's something at Mossy Creek for every taste and any budget.

What a gem off the beaten highway on the way to Depot Bay. Watch for the little "Blue or Green" marker on the highway that should say "Turn Left Now" ! I was so enchanted to both find and visit this whimsical artsy store. Always one to support local artists, as one writer wrote, so many wonderful pieces, which to choose. Like them, I was hard pressed to just pick up maybe one or two pieces. Many over my budget but also enough within my price range to choose from. Beautifully displayed crafts by local artists. The quality of work they displayed was some of the best I have seen in my travels. I'm from Portland originally and spent all summers as a child and even older adult lounging by the sea in the Lincoln City and Taft area. I have wanted to stop here for YEARS and so thankful I finally took the time on my last road trip from San Francisco. Please folks, support your local artists and communities. Take this road less traveled and see what charm and beauty awaits you. You will Not Be Disappointed!

My daughter and her husband 'found' this place when they were exploring Lincoln City. In a couple of hours you can make your own masterpiece to take home. There were 6 of us in our party. 4 adults and a teenager and and 12 year old. Everyone enjoyed it immensely. Personally, I have the crafting and artistic talent of a 3 yr old. However, I was never made to feel untalented or lacking in any way. My project turned out much better than I expected. My granddaughter created 4 coasters of her own design. They turned out wonderful.
