We thoroughly enjoyed our stop at Volcan Mountain Winery. Mel was a wonderful hostess. I tasted their Apple Sparkling (Champagne), Sangiovese, Petite Syrah, Old Vine Zinfandel, Malbec and Cabernet Franc (my fav) Their “Drop your Panties” blend of the Apple Sparkling (2/3) and their Apple Port (1/3) was quite a hit. So much so that we just had to bring a few bottles home to share with friends. We will definitely return!

Thank you Nikko for an awesome wine tasting experience. Our visit was educational and fun. We enjoyed our tastes relaxing on the beautifully located patio overlooking the vineyard and hills. Very good wine at a reasonable cost. Highly recommend this stop.

Small production winery offering a nice array of wines in a wonderful and charming tasting room. Pop in for a taste, glass, or bottle during your visit to Julian. Cheers!
Our second visit to the Blue Door Winery tasting room and yet again it did not disappoint… it’s up a side street in the little town of Julian and pours about six different reds along with their fresh made Sangria by the glass. We enjoyed each pour and managed to take several bottles home with us. Charming owner, Kameron, takes a lot of pride in her wines and shared her knowledge with us. A very informative and gracious host, what an enjoyable afternoon! We definitely will visit again!

We visit Julian several times a year and always call at the Julian Cider Mill to buy great snacks and a gallon of boysenberry apple cider. They sell all kinds of snacks, mostly homemade from chocolate, to honey, to syrups, to jellies,to nuts and even fresh eggs. Well worth a visit, they always have samples of cider to try. The staff are always very friendly and courteous.

This place is such a fun shop, full of fun Julian souvenirs, clothing, soaps, whatever you want. You can spend a solid half hour in there enjoying all they have to sell. Prices are fair as well. I would certainly come back. Well worth a visit.

Located just off Julian's main street, the volunteer-run museum, offers a wonderful window into Julian's past, and the 19th and early 20th centuries in general. There are items of interest to children (animal skills to touch, guns to look at, old telephones, precious metals, President US Grant's bookcase. All this, plus the history of Julian from the founding of the city makes the museum a great place to visit for anyone interest in learning more about the origins of Julian or the time period generally. Although you could easily spend more than an hour looking around, 30-45 minutes is probably enough for most people.

Nickel Beer Company is now open 7 days a week with beers brewed by longtime San Diego brewer and pub owner Tom Nickel. Located just a half mile east of historic downtown Julian in San Diego's beautiful back country. We serve 5, 9 and 16 oz beers in our tasting room and we have 32 oz and 64 oz jugs to go. The tasting room has a dart board, foosball table and a flatscreen TV. Our large outdoor beer garden is dog friendly.
April weather was a bit cool, so we sat inside. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful, and the beer was very good. There is no food, although it's OK to bring food inside. They sell jersey, nuts, and other bagged items if you need to have a quick snack. Dogs are not allowed inside (only outside). Darts, foosball, and board games available.
