The 10 Best Things to do Good for a Rainy Day in Jackson Hole, Jackson Hole

November 20, 2021 Terina Blouin

During the winter, Jackson Hole is a wonderland of snow skiing, snowmobiling and ice-skating. Summer in Jackson Hole is all about hiking, whitewater rafting, golfing and horseback riding. When you come down off the slopes, you can choose from recreation options like dog sled tours, sleigh rides and wildlife and nature tours. During the summer, you better get your energy level up because kayaking, hang gliding, hot air ballooning, mountain biking and stagecoach rides are just a few of the many options available. For climbers, hikers and nature lovers, the nearby Grand Teton National Park is an absolute nirvana. The towering mountains of the Teton Range stretch 40 miles, and include eight mountains over 12,000 feet. Keep in mind, too, that Yellowstone National Park’s South Entrance is only 90 minutes away, and another 45 minutes or so to reach Old Faithful. If you’re looking for some serious, fast-paced family fun in Jackson Hole, try the Alpine Slide, where you slide down 2,500 feet of Snow King Mountain in a bobsled. For a calmer experience, enjoy the Bridger Gondola, which takes tram riders from the Teton Village to heights of 10,000 feet. Golf enthusiasts have access to some great golf with tee opportunities at Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design and Teton Pines Resort Golf Course, designed by Arnold Palmer.

Our family did another 3 hour experience at the Jackson Hole shooting experience and had a GREAT time. With two teenagers, and 2 girl, 2 guys split - it’s all about safety and fun. Tim and Michael are such great instructors - so personable, great coaches and a lot of fun. They never relax on safety through the entire experience, which is important and just adds to the comfort level for even nervous shooters - like my wife. We shot numerous guns, both hand guns and rifles... shooting quarters at about 50 yards and targets with long range rifles at 600 yards. So fun! Thanks Tim and Michael!! See you guys again soon.

Body Sage Spa at the Rusty Parrot Lodge

The Body Sage Spa has been providing the highest quality massage, facials and spa packages at the Rusty Parrot Lodge since 1995. It recently moved into a newly constructed, free-standing spa on site. The open, airy spa provides the most comfortable, personalized experience in Jackson with highly experienced massage therapists and estheticians. The spa has been natural and organic since the beginning. It features organic skin care and Red Flower body ritual packages, as well as local grown and harvested flowers and herbs in the treatments.

There are bodywork specialists who know all the skill sets, and yet still don't know how to heal and relax their clients. Then there are those who create just amazing experiences because they are both intuitive and skilled at reading the body & listening to their client's concerns. Somehow, Body Sage Spa always seems to hire and train the amazing ones. I was thrilled when I learned the Alpine House (Nancy & Hans Johnstone) had loaned them space to keep providing massages while the Rusty Parrot Lodge is out of commission, and signed up right away for a wonderful, much needed, 90 minute bodywork session. Elee was wonderful! Thank you all for your great work and big hearts!

Nothing can beat an experience at MADE (except perhaps a few minutes across the boardwalk in Mursells, an incredible independent sweet shop or candy store). I go to MADE for new ideas, great gifts, personal treats, funny cards, superb puzzles and beautiful jewelry. You can always find something. An absolute must in Jackson Hole. Then when you have done, go to Mursells and buy some treat from the past or the UK or Australia or other places. Crunchies, Aero's, Jelly Babies, YUM

We had the most incredible trip with the Teton Raptor Center and JH Vintage Adventures! Len led my two kids (3 and 4 years old) and I down the Snake River - he was a wealth of knowledge and a joy to be around. He also spotted 8 different bald eagles which was a highlight of our time in JH for my son. The Teton Raptor Center team brought a few of their raptors and deepened our education. My kids were enthralled (as was I). I felt that both teams took every precaution during Covid to keep us safe. Highly recommend this to anyone who has the opportunity to participate.

Ever time I come to Jackson I make three or four visits to this fabulous Gallery. If you love wildlife this is a must see exhibit of Tom Mangelsen one of the top photographers in the world. You will be amazed at unbelievable scenes he has captured that seem almost surreal. Quite simply he seems to always be at the right place at the right time. Over the past six months I have purchased three o his selections and I proudly display them in my study . I particularly urge families with children to stop by because a visit is even better than going to a zoo! You will certain be in awe of what you experience!
