Best known for its Festival Cervantino, an arts festival that draws attendance from around the world, Guanajuato is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its old town dates back to the 16th century, and you can visit many of Mexico’s important religious and artistic sites. I loved everything about Escuela Falcon. The teachers are patient, kind, clear and knowledgable. I was only there for a week (20 hours at 4 hours a day) but I learnt so much and am so much more confident now. My Spanish is still basic but I can have conversations now and ask important questions as I continue my travels through Mexico. I was taught my Mauricio, Ivonne, Camila and Ricardo. They were all great but very different in their teaching styles. This combination worked really well though for me, as I got a good balance and got to hear lots of different accents. I would highly recommend this school (there are also tons of fun social activities organised that help the community to bond), and hope to visit again in the future!

My husband and I have visited this wonderful place on each of our trips to Guanajuato. If you love pottery and ceramics then do try and make the time to visit. The folks that work there are warm and helpful. We were lucky to meet Gorky Jr. on our second visit and he made us feel so welcome. We had 2 boxes of ceramics sent to our home and all of our treasures arrived in perfect condition.

I have attended almost all of the Spanish schools in Guanajuato over the past 10 years of coming to Guanajuato and really think Escuela Mexicana is the best one!!! My husband and I attended group classes for 3 weeks and really advanced a lot in our Spanish. The teachers were really excellent and class sizes were small. We were there for Dia De Los Muertos and Escuela Mexicana taught us how to make an altar along with all of its meaning.. including putting up photos of my deceased parents. We also made a tapete (made from colored sawdust) of the famous Diego mural. There were lots of other interesting activities all the time. But the best was learning Espanol.

I just returned from 2 weeks in Guanajuato attending 4 hours of classes a day at La Hacienda and exploring the city. The staff there is very knowledgeable, welcoming, and accommodating! As an intermediate to advanced student I learned new aspects and intricacies of grammar as well as enjoying opportunities for stimulating conversation and vocabulary expansion, thanks to my teachers, Luis and Mariana. The school also arranged a pleasant homestay and offered tips for touring the very vibrant city of Guanajuato. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Learning Spanish has never been as easy as it is now with My fenix. Students can personalize their learning process, according to their needs and level of experience. Our objective is that Spanish students can learn new skills easily from anywhere in the world. it's time to be able to take charge of learning!
I was interested in improving my medical and conversational Spanish. The teachers tailored their teaching to my interests and skill level. All the teachers were very friendly and easy to talk to. I learned a ton. They also took us on several hikes. They also gave us great recommendations for things to do in Guanajuato and the best places to eat. I would highly recommend the Fenix language school to anyone looking to improve their Spanish.

This huge stone granary was the site of the first major Mexican victory against the Spanish in the War of Independence.
This massive building is a history museum, an art museum, an anthropologiacl museum, and, best of all, the very place where one of the most important events in Mexican history actually occurred. Don't be fooled by the drab exterior. Inside you will find the story of European colonization and its many horrors, the struggle for independence from its oppressive yolk, and the courage and determination of the Mexican people portrayed in the most vivid detail. This is a "must see" while in Guanajuato.

The birthplace of Mexico's most famous painter has been preserved as a museum featuring some of his original works and a collection of artifacts from his house.
I am a big fan of Diego Rivera so I very much enjoyed his home. It is beautifully restored and has several of his early works, which are not in the style for which he is famous. I would read about him in advance of going as the signage. /story telling is minimal.

This museum is dedicated to the story of Don Quixote and displays statues, murals and other depictions of this famous literary figure.
My wife and I loved this museum. Imagine, an entire museum dedicated to the mythical exploits of a fictional character. This might seem absurd, but then you visit the museum and the genius of the place reveals itself. The many galleries contain lovely works of art depicting the improbable events in the lives of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, and scholarly books about the author, Don Miguel de Cervantes, and his world-famous book. My wife and I loved this place. In fact, we visited twice in our five-day stay.

This 17th-century cathedral holds a wooden image of the Nuestra Senora de Guanajuato that is thought be the oldest piece of Christian art in Mexico.
My first look at the beautiful city of Guanajuato was from the top at El Pipila and not only did the San Diego Church with it's red domes stand out, so did this striking yellow Basilica with 2 towers and the red dome. It seems to just dominate the whole postcard scene. Nuestra Señora (Our Lady) is the patron saint and protector of this city and her statue inside is indeed revered. The chandeliers and interior is stunning too. This Basilica stands at the main square in the Plaza of Peace.
