Aquaworld - Crete's first Aquarium - opened in Hersonissos in 1995 - near Bus Stop 20. It features local sea life and reptiles from Crete and from all around the world. Most of the animals are rescued or are unwanted pets which have found a new home at Aquaworld. Our philosophy is simple - bring people and animals closer together and, inevitably, people will begin to respect and care more about the animals! YOU MUST WEAR MASKS TO VISIT!
Easy to find and in walking distance from my hotel the palmera hotel. Friendly and informative staff. Aquarium small but well kept. Reptile area very good and staff very helpful. Was also able to hold a snake. Well worth a visit for 8 euro. I would definitely recommend

Great farm. The owner was super nice and gave our group an interesting tour on historical and modern olive oil production. We had a small oil tasting. The product is of exceptional quality and very reasonably priced. A must stop when traveling the area.

The winery is open to visitors all year round (after appointment). The visitors' wine experience starts even before arriving at the winery, as the route and the surrounded landscape is filled with images that emphasize the viticulturist character of the region. The tour starts from the production areas of the winery, continues at the cellar and ends at the tasting room where the guest then has the opportunity to taste our wines. Please contact earlier to inform us about your visit for wine tasting (via booking form/phone/email). There is a tasting fee of 8-12€ per person. Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 10:00-15:30, after appointment.
My sister and I went to the winery for the tour and tasting in September 2020. Guys were harvesting at that time, so we were lucky to witness some production processes like grape crushing :D The nice lady guide took us through the the place explaining how the wine is made from A to Z. We ended in the tasting room and the wine was delish) Refreshing whites, mouthwatering reds, absolutely Devine desert wines... People, go there and try it yourself! ) I regret we didn’t take home a bottle of Helios ( Was looking for it at the airport with no luck Anyhow, the Alargo Syrah we tried at the winery made a safe trip to London and is waiting for a special occasion to make it even more special Thank you, Douloufakis Winery!

1st of November to 1st of April all tastings are by appointment only. The Domaine Paterianakis is located in a semi-mountainous area of an approximate altitude 650 m, near to the "Melesses" village of the Municipality of Nikos Kazantzakis of Heraklion Prefecture on Crete Island. The wider region of "Peza", where the Domaine belongs, is reputed since ancient times for the excellent quality and the exceptional taste of the wines that were produced there. The vineyards of the Domaine belong to a biologically sensitive area appellation of origin Peza of high quality. Domaine Paterianakis is a pioneer in wine production from organic farming grapes on Crete.
Thanks to Nicky Paterianaki for taking the time to conduct a wine tasting and tell us the history of this family owned winery now run by a generation of daughters. Beautiful setting for the tasting and great to learn about the indigenous varieties in this PDO region. Kudos for producing such fine organic wines and taking care of the environment.

A unique Museum, the biggest one for a National Football Team, the Greek National Football Team, which was European Champions in 2004, located in the Old City of Chania and has over 1000 exhibits, balls from World Cup and Euro games, official shirts, photos and thw whole history of Greek football. BECAUSE OF CORONAVIRUS EPIDEMIC, THE MUSEUM WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE WHOLE MARCH.
So glad we made the time to visit, this little museum is excellent, and can easily be visited even if you’re short of time. I’ve never been to a museum quite like this, it really is quite unique. We were limited on time, so were shown the shirts and memorabilia related to my team first - so I got to try on the shirts and get the pictures - then were shown the vast collection of international shirts worn by the greatest players of all time, and finally the lifting the Euro 2004 trophy given to Greece when they won the tournament. The personal touch here is what really makes it special though; being meeted and greeted as a friend, by someone with a genuine love of the game, and who delights in sharing this amazing collection that you can physically touch and feel, instead of the admiring-at-distance you expect of museums. A true home of world football.

The Residence – Museum “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” is classified as an authentic (documentary) home since it is recounting the life of a personage and it is preserving authentic items, most of them in their original position. At the same time the life and era of the Greek politician it is presented giving to the monument the character of a modern museum.
This is a well presented museum in the outskirts of Chania (bus to Stavros). It tells the life of one of Crete’s and Greece’s greatest statesmen at the beginning of the 20th century through the house which was the family home. Each room is very well interpreted with information boards in both Greek and English. The attendant on reception was excellent and loaned us a tablet computer with maps and information for each room. Don’t forget to visit the garage where you can see the car which was damaged as part of an assassination attempt in 1923. Entrance 4 euros (2 for seniors). Expect to spend an hour here.
