The New Arte Fuga shop in Burano, which is also a small glass factory, offers exclusively original Murano glass objects of its own manufacture. Inside this shop it's possible to enjoy for free the "glass lume processing" (glass show), typical of the area around Murano.

I stumbled across this shop on a trip to Burano with my Mum and it was such a great find. Mum got some scarves and I bought the funkiest sunglasses and a necklace/earring set which was even altered to the length I was after. The owner is so friendly (speaks brilliant English and French I heard) and so accommodating. Genuinely was a pleasure. If only the sun was lasting longer in the UK for me to wear my sunglasses!! Many thanks again.

When visiting Burano you find a lot of the lace places, but not so many jewellery places. This shop owned by a married couple who both make items in their shop. There is a lot to look at and to choose from - I went for a Murano glass necklace infused with a gold leaf, plus a set of 2 drop glass earrings with glitter in side them. This was something new they were trialling and I hope they have continued to make these as they are lovely. If you want something not as expensive as if you were in Murano, come here to Burano and buy items cheaper but still of a high quality. They are all one of a kind, each piece is little different.

The Matriarch running this family store - now five generations - is a remarkable energetic elderly lady. Her passion, knowledge, and creativity is simply fabulous. She shares her expertise with you to the extent you wish to learn. One can see how the different laces are made, and there is a museum collection to gain knowledge over lace history for hundreds of years. Their lace products from young children’s clothes to place mats are beautifully hand-embroidered. If you enjoy meeting wonderful and kind people that love what they do, then this store will put a big smile on your face and make your day great! Craig Brown

This lovely shop is on the walkway from the vaporetto to the main canal leading to the shops and restaurants of Burano. We saw some lovely things in the store as we arrived and made time before leaving the island to circle back. We spied a lovely cashmere poncho with a neck lined in fur (faux I believe). It was elegant and just perfect for an evening out. We purchased it and the matching furry cuffs. A one of a kind piece back home in California.

Burano as a whole was a fine experience, much more interesting and welcoming that Murano, and the ladies at this boutique were quite marvelous. I was welcomed in the little upstairs family museum and had a chance to feel the exquisite quality of the contemporary linens. Lux! Lots of interesting information graciously told in family story. Well worth walking a bit farther to meet these ladies. Thanks for a lovely experience.

The museum is located at the historic Palace of Podestà of Torcello, former seat of the Burano Lace School from 1872 to 1970. Rare and precious pieces offer a complete overview of the history and artistry of the Venetian and lagoon’s laces, from its origins to the present day are on display, in a picturesque setting decorated in the typical colors of the island. The exhibition is accompanied by videos, illustrated explanations, and a number of other vintage items which frame the works and offer an easy and multidisciplinary understanding. During the opening hours of the museum you will also be able to see the work of the skilled lacemakers.
This museum is located on the island of Burano and we had admission through the our Venezia Unica Platinum pass. Whilst this museum was small in comparison to other museums it did not detract from its importance. It showed on how the lace industry developed in Burano with the encouragement of local families. I found the examples within the museum to be absolutely marvellous where they had drawers of Lace examples showing top class lace working. I really liked this museum in the way they are trying to preserve the history of lace making

The place os so cam , its an off beathen path away from the crowded touristic venice, am sure that this place will give you an immense feel of visiting a serene environment with colorful houseds. the Piazza is a famous gathering square with churches and shiops around, the view of leaning tower is fascinating sight and another amazing fact is that the bell tower is still alive , striking the bell at regular intervals. Walking down this little town is quiet relaxing and with the sights of the colorful painted in rich houses..
