Built to memorialize Alexander II following his assassination in 1881, this magnificent church with Italian pink marble floors and numerous mosaics was modeled after 16th and 17th century churches, contrasting sharply with the prevailing architectural styles.
We went with Alla Tours while on a 24-hour stopover on our Norwegian Getaway Baltic cruise in August 2019. It was so crowded that we could hardly walk around! But, so gorgeously decorated inside, floor to ceiling filled with paintings, carvings, and very colorful mosaics! It is not a working church but just a tourist site.

This is a very important historic site worth reading about before seeing. There had been competing centers of power at the turn of the last millennium between Novgorod, Kiev, and Moscow. Ivan the Terrible was brutal to the occupants of Novgorod. We had a guide who gave us the history of the long past and of the occupation by Nazis during WWII. The Kremlin is the chief attraction of the city which is somewhat neglected compared to St. Petersburg and Moscow. The Kremlin itself is free but do get a guide.

Strangely shaped cliffs lure locals and tourists to this popular park, which offers hiking and a wonderful retreat from the city.
Me and my travel mate visited Stolby with a local guide named Pawel in the Winter. The nature is just amazing and very fascinating rock formations. The Stolby it's a must see when you are in Krasnoyarks. Its just a 20 min bus ride away from the city.

The historic fortress dating back to the 16th to 19th centuries.
Kazan Kremlin, an amazing historical place, on the banks of the Volga River. the walls and towers of the Kremlin are very well preserved. The Kremlin itself in architecture is very similar to the Pskov Kremlin. Also white towers and walls, also round towers. I liked the building very much. It was in winter, a cold wind was blowing from the river, it was -23 Celsius, snow was falling, so we moved from museum to museum. On the territory of the Kremlin, there is a museum of the history of this break off and the emergence of the Kazan Khanate in the beginning, and so on. I recommend to visit those who are fond of history, like me).

I admire Curonian Spit, perhaps one of the most amazing and impressive natural beauties of Lithuania, and the effort to protect it. This area, also called the Sahara of the Baltic Sea and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, consists of about 90 km long narrow saber-shaped dunes that divide the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. Curonian Spit and its surroundings is a national park that is very well protected by the state. In this national park created with pine trees that people have planted with their hands for years, they have carefully lived more than 30 species of endangered birds and more than 800 different plants. I can say that I have never seen such a good visuality anywhere else in the world. The charming town of Nida and the small "Ethnographic Homestead of Fisherman" named fishing house museum, "Gintaro Galerija Muziejus" named amber museum and "the Horizontal Granite Sundial" are also worth visiting in Curonian Spit.

This may be a new mosque compared to others around the world but it's still beautiful. Took photos day and night. The interior is also impressive and its good to spend some quiet time in there when prayers are beung held. One of the symbols of kazan .

I visited Samara in June 2019. Samara Embankment is a nice place to walk. There are two-three very wide walkways going in parallel. A lot of small cafes and fast food booths, bike and scooter rentals are along the walkways. You can see a lost of street artists along the Embankment. Violins, guitars, drums, saxophones etc... ot from ti,e to time even orchestras! On the Volga beach right next to the Embankment you can see many volleyball courts, tennis courts and other sport sites.
