Wild Life Distillery is a craft distillery situated in Canmore, Alberta. Our spirits are produced, distilled and bottled on site from Albertan prairie grains. The distillery offers delicious craft cocktails, tastings, and bottle sales. Open daily, no appointments needed. Come and visit!
We didnt actually get a chance to visit the Distillery itself but had the chance to buy some of their liquid courage at a local liquor store, in Downtown Canmore. Its our hands down new favorite Gin. My Wife is more of the Gin drinker, but I love a good Gin martini every now and then. This stuff is putting big names to shame. I wont name other Gins because I believe Wildlife is killing the game. However, I will say they have some strong competition with Park Distillery in Banff... ;) We crushed a bottle of their Wildlife Gin while visiting last week and got a bottle of their Barrel Aged Gin to take home back to Arizona. We haven't opened that yet but are super excited to taste.

Howling Dog Tours is a family-run operation out of Canmore Alberta and offers visitors a unique outdoor adventure. The company runs tours in the majestic Rocky mountains, near Canmore, Banff and Kananaskis Country, which combine spectacular alpine scenery with the fun of a dogsled ride. Whether you prefer to sit back as a passenger or attempt to lead your own husky team with the help of your guide, the experience is truly unforgettable. There is plenty of interaction with the Alaskan and Siberian huskies, snacks and beverages, and a professional guide on each sled. Howling Dog offers a variety of tours, ranging from two-hour trips to half-day adventures, and can create custom trips for groups and corporations. Howling Dog Tours Ltd. is based out of Canmore, Alberta, and is not affiliated with the B.C. company with a similar name. Each tour begins with a complimentary pick up in Banff or Canmore, followed by a scenic drive to the site in the back country of the Canadian Rockies. Upon arrival to the site, guests are given a brief introduction, as well as safety talk prior to being assigned to a guide. Each sled is professionally guided for the guests safety and comfort. It is company policy to only run guided sleds; it is the best way to control a dog team and still give the customer a chance to take a turn driving the team, decreasing the risk of injury to dogs and guests! The guides will make sure that each guest has appropriate gear, and if required, snow boots, pants, jackets and hats will be loaned to the guest for the tour duration - no charge! Once the guests are ready, the introduction to the team happens, where each person is encouraged to learn the dogs names, and help harness a dog. Guests are then allowed to help while the guide hooks up the dogs to the lines in front of the sled. The dogs, when walked to the line, may be lifted up to walk on their back feet - this is done to control the pressure of the collar on the neck, because the are so strong and want to pull (we call this "taking them out of 4-wheel drive!). Once out on the trail, there is plenty of time to learn more about each dog and the breed in general. The breeds you will see are the Alaskan, Siberian, and Seppala Husky. There are Iditarod and Yukon Quest veterans to meet as well as retired sprint racing dogs, still full of energy and always raring to go! Snacks and hot beverages are offered at the mid-way point of the tours. The dogs are rewarded at the end of the tour with a biscuit and bowl of water - hugs are allowed too! Each trip ends by offering for purchase (optional) a photo of the moving team and guests, taken at the start of the tour - the only photo you can't get yourself! Take some time to get the names of your team written on the back, so you can remember them for a lifetime!
