I came to Whitehorse in Winter and booked the 3-Day-Dogsled-Tour and a 2-Day-Survival-Class with Fabian. What can I say? Fabian is a very friendly, communicative, funny, helpful and commited guy - and he is skilled and full of knowledge. There were times I wondered if there is anything he does not know about Bushcraft and living outdoors....Yet he is very humble and a no-ego guy - professional and experienced, taking no risks in terms of safety for his clients. I started with the survival class - and it was the best I have ever taken (and I have taken a few). Well-structured, solidly based on the essentials of survival, no BS skills and tricks - easy to follow, very interesting and a real eye-opener in many ways. The dogsled-tour was three days through the Fish Lake area -an unbelievably beautiful area and breathtaking scenery. You get your own team of beautiful, charming and very loveable huskies that are so full of energy - which is per se an experience you do not want to miss. This tour was sometimes a little more challenging in terms of physical fitness (steep hills up and down - you have to help the dogs pushing your sled from time to time, or lifting the sled out of deep snow when it's stuck), but also required a certain amount of courage (going down a steep hill with a curve to follow meant also some adrenaline and a need for steady nerves....not for the weary :-) But Fabian will -as he always did- be able to adjust his tours and classes to his customer's needs and abilites.... And no matter how exhausting the day was, Fabian always makes sure that you have a very tasty meal at the end of the day sitting at the camp fire. What you should know is that this is no tour for passive or lazy people - you are required to do your part in caring for the dogs, setting up a camp, getting firewood. And this makes the whole experience just more interesting and real! You are part of it! In a nutshell: one of the best things I have ever done - and I will come back for more. Give Bushcraft Yukon a try - you will not regret it!

We have made 21 trips to the Yukon traveling by car on the Alaska Highway and this is one of our favorite stops. The origin of the signpost forest was during WWII when homesick servicemen building the highway posted their signs telling how far they were from home. Don't forget to bring a sign of your own to add to the thousands already there. We add one each year and delight in reading other peoples signs to see where they came from. There is also a good movie in the visitors center about the construction of the highway and they will also lend you a hammer to post your own sign.
