Vientiane is the capital and largest city in Laos. Located on the banks of the Mekong River, Vientiane is a city steeped in legend and history. The city is the home of the massive gilded stupa, Pha That Luang, a national symbol of Laos. The streets are lined with trees, French colonial buildings, street markets, Buddhist temples, and noodle shops. Just outside the city is Buddha Park, a garden littered with over 200 cement sculptures depicting the gods and monsters of Buddhist and Hindu myth.

We booked Si as a driver and guide and his Van to drive around Luang Prabang and then to Ventiane. He speaks English very well. He drives safely. We felt very safe despite heavy traffic or bad segments of road. Honestly, having a cleen van with air conditionning was an affordable luxury in the heat and red dust of the road during the dry season. SI had a lot of suggestions of places to stop. He is energetic and ponctual. What struck me the most was he was ready to speak with local Lao people to satisfy our wish to meet people. We stopped in a community village. He introduced us to a family so we could speak and exchange with them. He also understood that we were interested by the gigantic construction works that the Chineese are conducting in Laos. He led us to sites where we could take pictures of these impressive structures (bridges) He understood that we needed time of our own as a couple. So we had hikes with him (especially when there was path with less people) but we had also activities just for the two of us. Thank you Si !
