When you think “adventure travel” you probably think of far-flung places like Belize and Alaska—not Wisconsin. But if you’re an outdoor adventurer, you’ll find plenty of places to explore in Wisconsin. A vacation in Wisconsin can put you close to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, which has excellent biking trails. Or choose Wisconsin’s Apostle Islands—kayakers will love exploring Lake Superior’s many caves and shipwrecks.
Packers fans don’t wear those cheese-wedge hats for nothing! Foodies will love tasting as many of Wisconsin’s artisanal cheeses as possible. Either drive from cheesemaker to cheesemaker, or choose a Wisconsin vacation in a town with a good farmers’ market—then the cheesemakers bring their wares to you. And what goes better with artisanal cheese than craft beer? In Milwaukee, visit the Lakefront and Sprecher Breweries for tours and tastings.
Wisconsin Dells is a classic family vacation destination. A vacation in Wisconsin Dells will put you close to all the excitement—you’ll have to tear the kids away from the theme parks, wave pools and water parks in Wisconsin Dells!
Lake Geneva boasts clean beaches, golf, and a small-town feel that definitely appeals to city dwellers—it’s a popular getaway for residents of Chicago.

Citizen park is the perfect place for your family. There is a small playground and picnic area across the parking lot. Be sure to get the combo pass for the Aquatic Center and Mini Golf. We visited here 4th of July week and we are so glad we found this place. It was fun for the whole family from our young daughter to our teen boys. We loved the lazy river, the speed slide and diving board. There are two huge slides that were awesome! Kids had fun playing water basketball while I swam around. Just a note that to use the speed slide and diving board, everyone needs to pass a swim test first and get a special wristband, as the water on that end is over 10' deep. Mini golf was a fun way to dry off after swimming. There were ball diamonds and tennis courts, but we did not use those. This will be a new family tradition on our trips to Manitowoc.

Even if you're not a competitor, this rink offers an excellent, low cost alternative to skating on poorly maintained lake ice that may be not be thick enough to skate upon, rutty, snow covered or, just plain dangerous. And you can skate here all year round. In addition, the rink has great instructors and staff that ensures those unsafe "speed demons" who continually over estimate their abilities are kept in check. Just remember; slower or lees experienced skaters should always be in an outside lane.

The Forum is a great place to see a game. From the front row to the upper deck, there isn't a bad seat in the house. Unlike the Bradley Center, its designed for basketball and the seats are all directed toward the court. In addition to good seats and sight lines, there are also the little comforts. Cup holders for every seat, bar stools overlooking the game so you can watch up there before going back in, family restrooms (a must if you have to change a diaper), and friendly, accommodating staff. In addition to plenty of bars, I really appreciate the food selection, which includes many local Milwaukee favorites like Iron Grate BBQ, Laughing Taco, & Sobelman's burgers.

Nice people, fun tubing hills (6 total), and no need to bring your own tubes or carry them or yourself up the hill. You pay, get a tube at the bottom of the hill, sit in it and they hook it up to a rope that drags you up. Easy peasy. Great for families! Tip for dads: if you need to get back at a young one for smacking you in the ear with a snowball, connect your tubes together, then on the way down gently drag your downhill boot along the snow. Snow will kick up in their face! :)

Nice place to play some ball! Did I mention parking was free.....wootwoot can’t beat that. I do have a couple complaints though. For one the bathrooms were a little on the dirty side of things. I’m a professional custodian and I just wanted to start cleaning! Guess you could say I’m a clean freak laugh out loud. Last off some of the refs were a little goofy. But there was a lot of super chill refs!! A couple stuck out that I’ll definitely remember because of how friendly they were! Can’t wait for my lil dude to have another basketball tournament there.
