Serving as both the capital of Belarus and the headquarters of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Minsk is a hub of business and government. Although few older buildings survived WWII bombings and Stalinist construction projects, Belarusians are proud of their capital's long history and its continued cultural importance. The city boasts 16 museums, 11 theaters, and 139 libraries, including the National Library of Belarus, with collections housed in a towering glass geometric ball.

Museum Strana Mini is a great place to get an overview of many of Belarus' major castles, historical sites and important buildings all in one place! Staff are helpful, the audio guides incredibly informative and the models themselves are really detailed! My one suggestion is that they should consider more signposting outside - we walked past the museum twice as there is only one sign and a cherry-picker was parked in front of it! Other than this, great addition to any itinerary in Minsk!

It’s a good way to understand the modern state of Belarus. We had a nice guide so I would recommend a guided tour (really cheap it’s only around 6 rubies).

The Groshi Museum of money is a new project in the Republic of Belarus dedicated to the history of money circulation on its territory. The exhibition represents only original coins and banknotes that have been used in Belarus since the II century AD (The Roman Empire), The Great Duchy of Lithuania, Rzech Pospolita, The Russian Empire and the Soviet Union ending with the present. Our gides are always pleased to put you through the history of our country using exciting stories about money. In the Museum you can buy commemorative coins and souvenirs as a valuable memory about Belarus for you, your family and friends.

An interactive museum with unique collection of musical instruments from very rare and expensive (grand piano, harp, double bass, harpsichord, sitar...) to completely unusual sound therapy instruments (singing bowls, cauchy bells, the sound of the ocean...). You can touch and play on most of the instruments and participate in interactive programs from professional musicians, as well as enjoy delightful miniatures and pieces of art and experiments of the physics of sound to learn the inspiring world of music! The total number of exhibits in the museum is more than 300 and it's a fun both for adults and children to try yourself being musician or conductor, or just to have a rest in the atmosphere of art!
I recommend to visit music therapy - a mix of classical music and sounds of nature will plunge you into a really relaxing atmosphere.

The Museum of the Minsk Watch Plant was opened in 2020. During the tour you will see rare watch models, produced from 1955: unique medical watches, watches for miners, famous "strings" and "crabs". The windows display the popular self-winding watches with Luch-1816 calendar and the first waterproof watch "Amphibian". The exposition presents models of watches from limited collections and special orders. The museum has also interactive exhibits: a watchmaker's table, where the first watch models were assembled, a lathe from Swiss company Tornos and a projector for rejecting of parts.
