A small museum with a lot to see: I was lucky to visit on one of their open days when they were busy setting up then running one of the presses. It was intriguing. All the people there knew so much about printing. I could ask questions and hear their stories. They showed me the big drawers of metal letters for each font, the large letters in metal type for headlines, the different presses, historic photos, and printed samples of work.

Brislington - a gracious Georgian building stands on the corner of George and Marsden Streets in Parramatta. It is the oldest existing dwelling house in the inner City of Parramatta and since 1983 has been a Medical and Nursing Museum for the former Parramatta Hospital.

Mary MacKillop Place, in Mount Street North Sydney, Australia is a place unlike any other. This beautiful tranquil haven is where the tomb of the iconic Australian and first Saint Mary MacKillop is located. It is a historical ‘must see’ destination that gives you an insight into where this extraordinary woman lived and spent the final years of her life. This unique destination incorporates a spiritual site, café/gift shop, museum, beautiful garden and historic Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel.
An oasis where all are unconditionally welcome. Hospitality only possible when making a profit is not your primary motive.

Had wanted to visit the tramway museum for a while but never got there. Great set up! Worth a visit...go back in Sydney’s history and explore the museum and ride the restored trams. They’ve done an excellent job to document our transport history. The volunteers are great! They do a good job of explaining the history of the trams. Enjoyed going on the tram line into the Royal National Park, some really good walks.

I loved my visit to the historic and now largely restored Manly Quarantine station. It offers living history as well as some breathtaking natural beauty. At the core of the site is the Luggage Store Museum, which brings together the stories of many of the parts of the Q. station that you see as you wander around the site. The museum is small and free to enter, with a friendly and helpful attendant on duty when we visited. As well as some mocked up rooms and dormitories for the quarantine era, the museum features boards detailing the histories of various epidemics to hit Sydney while the Q station was in full operation, including smallpox (1881) and bubonic plague (1900). They are wordy, but worthwhile reading if you have the time and want to get an insight into how the place worked. Of particular interest in 2020 is the board that describes the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic. Next to the museum is a small 'cafe', but the less said of that the better. We found it dingy and uninviting. Sandwiches were pre-packaged and coffee only available in disposable cups.

The Museums Discovery Centre (MDC) is a collaboration between the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), Australian Museum (AM) and Sydney Living Museums. Inside the MDC you will find millions of treasures, with hundreds on display for you to explore, and thousands more waiting to be discovered through booked tours of the deep collection stores. A visit to the MDC also provides you with a rare opportunity to learn about museum collecting, conservation and research practices.

A fascinating tour of this museum showcased telecommunications from our past with working technology demonstrated for us and brought alive by anecdotes well- chosen and beautifully told by our guide, Bob.
