Astrakhan (Russian: Астрахань, IPA: [ˈastrəxənʲ]) is a city in southern Russia and the administrative center of Astrakhan Oblast. The city lies on two banks of the Volga River, close to where it discharges into the Caspian Sea at an altitude of 28 meters (92 ft) below sea level. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 520,339; up from 504,501 recorded in the 2002 Census and 509,210 recorded in the 1989 Census.

Astrakhan Kremlin territory is impressive because rarely you can see historic city boundaries of such scale . unfortunately there are not that many buildings inside that you can visit. but they are working on it and hopefully soon more places shall be open for tourists

Museum of Frogs and Toads «MuLyaZh» is the biggest private art collection in Russia dedicated to the popular amphibious in Astrakhan region – various toads and frogs. It is located in a cozy space on the Volga river embankment with a yard and has more than 1,500 exhibits. In addition to the main exhibition, Museum of Frogs and Toads offers a special programme of environmental education, different amusements, funny souvenirs with the frog theme, tea, coffee and sweets in the cafeteria and a brand milk chocolate (green coloured, of course). A variety of workshops, children's and family events are held regulary in the Museum.
