Nice museum. The entry from outside looks like old, but worth every piece that it has inside. I think is a special museum for this city and unrated!

Before coming to Korca, I wasn't actually aware of the great photographer Gjon Mili and his extraordinary work. The Museum Gjon Mili is situated in the so-called Romanian House, which is situated in the main city's pedestrian zone, thus you cannot miss it, due to its unusual exterior design. The Museum offers you an opporunity to take a peak into the glamurous world of one of the famous people coming from various dimensions of life (politicians, artists, writers, musicians, actors and actresses, etc). Working as a professional photographer for the Life Magazine, Gjon Mili had the opportunity not only to take exclusive pictures of famous people, but also to befriend with them, info about which can be found in the museum. What is more is that Gjon Mili actually invented the use of stroboscopic instruments for the purposes of capturing a sequence of actions in only one photograph. Also, the curator, Kristi, was an amazing guide and explained everything in detail. In the end, there is also the opportunity to take a picture of yourself with Gjon Mili's method of taking picture, which is simply an amazing thing to do. All in all, if you're in Korca, simply do not miss to visit this amazing place! You won't regret it!

House Studio Kadare is a place where you can get an idea of Kadare's work. It is a place where you can encounter the writer’s work and recognize its infinite ramifications in the times, in literature, and in his readers.
Visiting the former apartment of Ismail Kadare gives an interesting insight in living in Albania whilst being constantly watched by secret service. You must be exceptionally creative and intelligent. How wonderful it is to see that even under those circumstances people continue to have a sense of humor and continue to love and cherish life, and a fireplace:) Our guide was just great, we hope to see you in Amsterdam soon, to visit Rijksmuseum. Thank you for your time and all your answers to our questions!

The museum is a good option to get some historic information about Berat. The infos are available in many different languages and it's also a nice option to escape the hot hours during the summer days in Berat :)

I was quite alone in the museum, being November, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At the entrance, I grabbed an information sheet, which is available in about 10 languages, and then I walked from beginning to end through the two floors. The museum offers glimpses into past crafts and professions, as well as how poeople lived in old times. They also display typical Albanian outfits. Children would also enjoy the mysterious, dark spaces and the meandering corridors. It was a good decision to go and see it, and at 300 Lek it is basically a treat.

Lovely old converted church housing a fine collection of ikons - some of them from the 15th century. Good English signage, well laid out and beautifully presented.

In a city with several good museums telling the bleak story of life under the communist regime, this is probably the best. This building was the main intelligence centre for a vast surveillance network that kept the population in fear and under tight control. The level of sophistication used to bug homes is both scary and impressive. If only the Hoxha regime had put as much effort into the welfare of the population... The building is actually an old maternity hospital. The irony that a place meant to bring life into the world was used as a way to end it adds to the tragedy. Now it faces the orthodox cathedral, which feels like a fitting response from the city, as if it is asking for forgiveness.
