We arrived at midday for a flight the next day we dropped the hire car off across the road, and as we were traveling to the US we needed to get a Covid test which was in the airport. All this within 5 minutes walk. The hotel let us leave our bags so we got the tram into Edinburgh for the afternoon/evening, the tram stop is next to the airport all really convenient. The hotel looked like it had just been built all immaculately clean and modern the rooms were very nice and the bathroom was very clean and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet style a just a cut above the usual breakfast you would get in a US airport hotel. The price was at the high end (hence only 4 stars), but for convenience would definitely stay there again.

Hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. There was very little noise inside or outside the hotel. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The breakfast and dinner menu was basic enough but there was something to satisfy everyone's needs and dietary preferences.

I booked two short breaks at this place one week after the other as we were going to meet family in between the dates in Inverness. I got a very rude message left on my answer machine saying that I was stopping other people getting booked and I had to pick one date that suited us, she basically said I wasn’t allowed to book both dates as she thought I was lying about my plans? Also it said no payment at booking time but they tried to take the full price the day after booking? I would not recommend after all the hassle.

We recently stayed at the Waverley Hotel while in Callander for a family event. The hotel appears to have been quite recently renovated and our room was clean and well set out. It had everything we needed, including a bath, plenty of tea and coffee and an ironing board. We were at the back of the hotel which was quiet. There were some works ongoing over the weekend but the hotel gave us advance notice and they did not disrupt our stay at all. The only downside is that the restaurant closed early, even for residents, which was an issue for us as we were all travelling some distance to get there. Breakfast was good and there was a great choice of food. When we did eat there in the evening, the menu was varied and the food was good. We were travelling with family and the staff also asked whether we wanted to have breakfast together on one big table or separately so they could set the room up accordingly. I would stay again.

Lovely views. Weather was lovely. Lovely gifts shops but can be expensive depending on what you buy and a lovely cuppa outside. Would highly recommend, wished we'd stayed longer and explored more of the scenery as its beautiful up that neck of the woods

a hotel located in the heart of Penicuik A very warm welcome to you from the Craigie Hotel, a beautiful and totally refurbished hotel in the heart of Penicuik, just 20 minutes from Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. It remained as such for many decades, until the current own
We booked a number of rooms at The Craigie as we were attending a family wedding nearby. The Craigie staff were really helpful when I was booking the rooms and when we arrived a little early for check in. Our room was a good size with a great bathroom. Love the Scottish Fine soaps supplied throughout the hotel. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice as well as the traditional full breakfast.

For the price you can't go wrong this place, I've stayed twice. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Only issue is that the walls are very thin so you can hear everything and mattresses aren't comfortable.
