I was a little disappointed when we checked in as I was expecting more resort-like accommodation. Our room was a basic bedroom with tiny kitchenette and regular bathroom, with a spa in the balcony (which we didn’t use). There was nowhere to sit other than the bed and balcony chairs. We opted not to pay extra for daily housekeeping which was a mistake on our part, as there was soon a build up of sand from Four Mile Beach which inevitably found its way into the bed. I tried to clean it off our balcony with the dustpan and brush I found in the room. I like to avoid housework when I’m on holiday but found myself cleaning, emptying the rubbish, making the bed etc. although to be fair, there was an extreme staff shortage at the time of our visit. The bed was uncomfortable and I didn’t sleep very well. There was only a single sheet provided, which wasn’t enough. I’d have liked easier access to clean towels too, or some dropped off to our room. I couldn’t fault the location though…a short stroll to the beach and shops which was great..we could pop out to the Night Owl convenience store, or grab an ice-cream. We went to Little Larder for breakfast, just a few minutes walk away. We didn’t use the pools, preferring the beach.

Had a lovely couple of nights at The Abbot! Spacious, clean room and extremely quiet! Peter was friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is so centrally located that you can walk to restaurants, coffee shops, the Esplanade etc. Highly recommend!

This facility offers several (about 8?) individual rooms with shared bathrooms and access to a full kitchen (hence sharehouse). It is located in a residential neighborhood just a few blocks from Cairns CBD with an easy walk to the mall or the CBD beyond. Uber from the airport to the house is about A$22. The house itself has been added to over the years and is nothing much. The "garden" is a small outside space that is uninviting, but allows a space for smokers outside. The room was spartan and the furniture showed its age in wear and tear. Other areas around the house also showed its age, but everything was clean and functional. Shared toilets were always clean; in one case, toilet is separate from shower/sink. TP is not kept in the loo but provided in your room - you just need to remember to take it with you each time! WiFi was free, it was strong and reliable. Owner was very accommodating, allowing me to check-in early after an early flight. Not much to do at the house except sleep or cook. But it provided a clean, inexpensive private room with easy walking access to Cairns CBD. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

My partner and I recently stayed at Turtle Cove Beach Resort to celebrate his birthday. The pool, spa and gym are fantastic and the private beach is stunning. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a secluded and peaceful environment. We look forward to visiting the Turtle Cove family again soon.

Daintree Peaks ECO Stays is located in the center of the Daintree Rainforest, tropical far north Queensland. We are situated on 25 tranquil acres and have 4 chalets for our guests to stay, each containing a queen size bed or 2 king singles, Air-conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities, mini fridge and flat screen TV. One of our rooms is specially built with disabled facilities, including roll in shower and ramp access. Our establishment has a licensed bar and restaurant, and breakfast is included in the room price, cooked (vegetarian and vegan options are available). We have a large lap pool for our guests to use and all of our rooms have mountain views. We are almost 100% ECO friendly, with our main power source being solar generated and our water is on an independent solar pump straight from our underground water system. There is plenty to do up here from bush walking to deep sea fishing, there are a lot of guided tours also, we can help book these for you.
Host Gregg made our stay at Daintree Peaks one to remember. His mantra on arrival was “I’m at your service” and he delivered that with every meal we enjoyed in the airy dining area, which has spectacular views to Mt Thornton, rising over 1350 metres above the tropical forest. Delicious evening meals were cooked to order using as much produce grown locally as possible. The cottage was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and truly eco-friendly with all power, water and treatment being off grid. Highly recommended for anyone seeking solace in the Daintree forest.

It was a very nice place to stay, but, a little noise travels a very long way in such a quiet atmosphere. I just can’t understand why a relaxing rainforest stay would have chickens and a rooster. The rooster woke us up at 5am every morning. Also the neighbours talked until late at night and their generator was annoying. Also chatter from hosts at main house was very annoying. Sorry.

We stayed in this beautiful place in July 2019 for 3 days. Definately could have stayed longer and intend to return to do just that, hopefully in the near future. The service was excellent (the lady at reception whos name escapes me was so accommodating, she even drove us to the resort and showed us to our room. I was very impressed and thankful for her hospitality, the little things make all the difference), the facilities were great and the whole resort was spotlessly clean. We had a great pool view with a very private balcony area. The pool area is stunning and of course the pool bar is a bonus! As a romantic get away for couples I'd highly recommend this place and the Palm Cove area in general. Its beachfront location was a huge bonus with fantastic views and just a few steps away from a variety of restaurants, quaint little shops and a tranquil walk along the shoreline. Everywhere we went the people were friendly and welcoming. The weather was perfect, not too hot that time of year. Because we are from overseas, we didnt realise that we booked our stay during a school holiday so next time we will be more careful with our timing. Not that it was over run with kids or that I have anything against it (been there, done that). I just wasnt expecting it. There is also a more private part of the complex which offers a more secluded and quiet area with a unique pool area (rainforest style, very unusual) where room terraces open out poolside. I'd like to experrience that next time too. If I was to find any fault in the room itself it would be that the jacuzzi plug wasnt adequate and we had to keep topping up the water to avoid it emptying constantly. Other than that the room was lovely, clean, private and the bed was very comfortable. We will be back to Elysuim and Palm Cove and look forward to exploring the surrrounding area next time.

We have recently enjoyed our second stay ( this time for 7 nights) . We stayed in February and enjoyed it so much that we came back for more. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment was conveniently located with the Drift Resort, set on the beachfront in Palm Cove. The apartment was well equipped - dishwasher, fridge, microwave, open plan dining & living room, washing machine, tumble dryer, 2 bathrooms ( one en-suite ) and balcony overlooking the tropical garden & pool. The pool was a large warm one that snaked its way between the palms & tropically landscaped garden. There was a large spa and BBQ facilities within the same garden. Lots of restaurants & bars were less than a 3 minute walk away. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
