My family and I stayed two nights in the camp and it has been brought up to us as a secret tip from our driver who knows it for many years now. The camp is very lovely. Our Ger was in excellent shape. All the furniture inside was hand painted in beautiful traditional Design. Showers and other amenities are quite good as well. Of course every Ger comes with a stove and they will make sure you’ll have plenty of firewood. The food they serve is very European and delicious as well. My mother and my sister are both vegetarian and when you tell them in advance, they make sure you get some high quality vegetarian food. The camp is located off the main road, compared to most of the other camps a real advantage. You can start a little round hike for about 1,5h from right behind the Ger to explore the beautiful surroundings. We’d definitely recommend this place and will return in case we come back to Mongolia.

Alungoo features 5 gers with queen beds and 17 gers with twin beds along with modern facilities including easy access to bathrooms from gers, wifi internet connection, modern restaurant and a pub. The breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at 3 ger-shaped restaurants, offering number of mouth Mongolian and European cuisines.
Alungoo is meant to be one of the more luxury gers/yurts near Ulaanbaator. Situated in Terejl National Park, they offer gers that have private bathrooms and toilets (which is the main reason why we chose it. We didn't want to have to walk outside to the bathroom in the middle of the night in near minus degrees!) There's a lot of good about this place - the gers were beautifully decked out. Beds were comfy and it was very spacious. There is fire that's in the middle of the ger, that heats everything up. You tell the staff when you want a fire and they come to your room to light it. They can do this at any time you want, even at 5am. I think this'd be perfect in winter when it is -30C outside, but we went when it was probably 3C and so when it was on, it went into overdrive and made the whole room feel like it was 40C… So we had to spend some time leaving the doors open at 11pm at night, haha! We had our meals included in our stay and it was super tasty, and rich in variety - even as vegetarians. Breakfast was a buffet and the chef makes everything themselves. In fact, they grow their own vegetables too… And! To add more facts, the whole of Mongolia seems to value good produce and 'free range' meat. I haven't had a wide selection of veggies in a long time! And all their animals wander wherever they want to on the lands of Mongolia - So they live happy lives. Our guide also told us that quality of food is quite important to them, and they're trying to reduce the amount that's imported from countries that use a lot of chemicals. Now the only real negative was the service… but it's also kinda of understandable. We stayed at the beginning of the season, so they had new staff which were youngsters in, perhaps their 'summer jobs'. This meant that they were forgetful, slow and made mistakes. The manager is a no-nonsense bad ass which was cool, but she clearly is patient enough to be training up these kids. I also think it is a great thing to be giving these youngsters a job, and as Mongolia's government is prioritising hiring locals, I felt that any mistakes are forgivable. Some of these mistakes were receiving meal dishes for them to come back quickly and remember that we were vegetarians (totally forgivable for us), coming at 6am instead of 5am for our fire service (again, totally forgivable) and the bathroom wasn't perfectly clean. Speaking of the bathroom - it honestly was perfectly fine, but I mention this only to manage expectations for those who are considering booking a stay here - the tiles were mismatched and there's gaps in the shower where you can see the brickwork. As well, the toilet needed a lot of time to refill the flush. These personally didn't bother me - and as I have mentioned in other reviews, bathrooms are a big thing for me. Back to positives - the location is so lovely. Whilst you can see a few other buildings and another camp, it still feels that you're somewhere peaceful and remote. There's barely a sound and you can truly see the richness of the stars. There's quite a steep hill that you can climb and just sit and watch everything go by. This particularly nice when there's the free roaming animals that just graze by you - horses, cattle, yaks, etc. Definitely loved our stay and recommend it. I would just request one of the gers at the very front so that you can sit on the porch and watch the world go by.

It is a tourist camp where you can enjoy balloon, horse riding and canoeing in Mongolia. Since it is far from Ulaanbaatar, old-fashioned rustic staff and nomads will hospitate. Because the Japanese professional pilot will steer the balloon, it is safe and secure. Let 's fly on a pond on the prairie.

A smallish town with little else around. The restaurant is clean with a fairly comprehensive menu. Portions are huge- a main course alone is plenty. Free Wifi (though not fast). Service average speed for Mongolia (which is not generally fast).

My partner and I had been traveling for a week by the time we made it to Tsetserleg. We had been hiking, exploring, camping, and driving (a lot) - so we were pretty beat when we arrived. Google didn't have many hotel options, but this place popped up, so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! We were immediately greeted by Sara, an owner of the hotel. Though she does not speak much English, she was incredibly kind and helpful. By the time we arrived, there were only three rooms left, and we stayed in Room 301 (two twin beds). It was clean, thoughtfully decorated, and had a fantastic view of the mountain at the north end of town. The bathroom was small but also clean and modern. And it was pretty cheap (100,000 Mongolian Tugriks, which at the time was less than $50usd I think). We had drinks in the restaurant attached to the hotel, during which time a few locals came in to hang out and eat. We noticed a karaoke stage in the restaurant, but it wasn't being used at the time. We slept very comfortably in our beds, and the next morning we were treated to a traditional Mongolian breakfast (included in the room rate). Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and Sara was such a wonderful host (she even helped us find a place to stay in Tariat, the next city we were headed to)! Thank you so much!

This place is a hidden gem. The rooms are clean and spacious and excellent value for money. Breakfast is also very good. However, the best part about this place is the owners - they will go out of their way to ensure you have a great stay. Oh and the owner speaks English fluently (he lived in London for 7 years) which makes everything extremely easy and smooth. He’ll also help to organise going to see the Tsaatan reindeer people, fly-fishing, etc. He has excellent connections in the area. In sum - Would highly recommend!

I am honoured to be the first person to review this hotel on Tripadvisor and would recommend it to anyone visiting Choibalsan on a budget. Our standard twin room was perfectly adequate for the price and the breakfast of good quality (though it is served rather late by Western standards - between 9 and 10). I would recommend the airport pick-up service, which got us to the hotel very quickly and only cost 10 dollars. The restaurant was more efficient than other places we tried in town and offers a range of dishes at good prices (try the ox tongue!) - on one occasion they even opened the restaurant specifically for us even though it was meant to be closed. A laundry service is offered for a small fee as well, which we used and were satisfied with. The only real drawbacks of this cheap hotel are the fact that they do not speak any English (our phrase book came in handy) and that they don't seem to clean your room if you stay more than one night (we were there for 3 nights). However, I would still recommend it overall!

Terrible stay, drain in the shower didn't work, toilet didn't work (we were told to use the one in the restaurant 2 floors down), TV didn't work, and constant drilling in the room next door that sounded like it was going to come through the wall. Worst place we've stayed so far during our 2 weeks in Mongolia.
