Fringing two sandy bays separated by a rock island reachable at low tide, Mirissa feels hidden away compared to Sri Lanka’s other busier resort towns. While the quiet sands are sprinkled with bars and surf rentals, it’s Mirissa’s May-to-November whale-watching boat trips that steal the show.

The property is beautiful with a great pool, and the breakfast was delicious - but it’s the staff who really made our stay exceptional. I had a medical issue (not at the hotel) which impacted the next part of our holiday, and the concierge, Gayan, went above and beyond to help us - we were really blown away and so grateful for his help, without which we would have been in a really sticky situation. Afterwards the whole team were really kind checking I was ok and helping us with everything. Highly recommend this place. More broadly - as others have mentioned the electricity can cut out which can be frustrating, but it’s also something we’ve noticed everywhere we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka, so seems more like a country wide problem. We used the free tuk tuks to the beach junction which was handy, but also often walked down too - it’s quite rural and beautiful (we saw monkeys one day!) and got lots of friendly waves and hellos from kids who lived on the route. All in all it’s a really nice place, highly recommend.

Casa Maria is the perfect environment for both families and couples hankering after relaxed days, in a private atmosphere with the beach at the front door and great food. Wherever we go, our families are always present, so why not having the so-awaited holidays in the privacy of a luxury house with the opportunity of getting-together with other guests. This is a relatively new place, but is done in an old style. Rooms are built around a nice garden and pool and the area is quiet - surprising since it’s only a two minute walk to the beach. Good to get separate pool and beach towels. The owner, Maria, is very helpful and is always around. It is getting to the point where it needs some redecorating and basic maintenance, but it is still a charming place to stay.

A budget fusion homestay bed and breakfast. Private seperate rooms with ensuite and hot water showers. Hearty local breakfast with western influence. Four minutes walk from Mirissas famous surf point and main beach.
Great hotel in Mirissa! We spent about two weeks in the Era House and have a lot of amazing emotions! Firstly it’s all about hospitality owners. They are so kind and patient, intelligent and open hearted! They always tried to help, to give advise and to make our presence comfortable and cozy. Next about the room- it’s very clean with modern design, good shower, fridge and iron if you need, some additional services as laundry for example. The room is cleaned in 2-3 days or in a period as you wish. Amazing big breakfast portions for whole day with local, European food and fruit plate. Moreover the owners took into account my food desires - I have allergy on some kinds of products. And special for me they made sausages every morning?. In addition I have great experience of cooking with Nirosha (hotel owner) local pancake which is called “rotti”! The hotel is located near the ocean, it takes approximately 3-5 minutes of promenade to the shore. A lot of local shops with souvenirs, fruits and also the supermarket is in this area. We absolutely advice to spend holidays in this great place!

I travelled in Sri Lanka for 3 weeks and Mirissa was my last stop. I consider myself not a picky person in terms of the hotel rooms as i stay at hostels quite often as well. Unfortunately, Resort Deepika was the only and worse room i booked in Sri Lanka both because of the condition of the room and how the owner treats to his customers. Owner gave me the room facing directly to ocean which was slightly more expensive even though i booked the back room which i thought it would be quite. I was attracted from the view initially and decided to stay for 3-4 days. However, room was not clean at all. There were stains on the wall, spider nets under the bed and shower walls as well as the sinks were not cleaned at all. Local busses as well as the tuktuks are passing on main road which is right in front of the room. I couldn’t sleep until 1:30-2 am due to heavy traffic noise. It started again at around 6-6:30 am. Room smells very heavily mould and you cannot open even the windows due to noise outside. Owner seemed to me very friendly person like all other amazing people i met as hosts in Sri Lanka. However, when i told him about the noise and all the things above, he asked me to close windows as a joke. I said i want to check out next morning and he told me there is an available room at the back of the hotel even though the hotel was full the day before and he tried to sell it for more expensive price. Money is not a big deal but he has been very rude. Stay away from this place and book somewhere else for less hassle! Cheers and enjoy Sri Lanka;) Amazing country with very nice people…

Welcome to our brand new hotel "WAVELENGTH" located in Mirissa, Sri Lanka. It is uniquely designed to meet the needs of leisure and corporate travelers seeking quality accommodations which are comfortable and spacious at affordable prices. The best is waiting for you at our Wavelength hotel.
We booked this through Booking. Com when we were actually there. The reason was that the original hotel was absolutely disgusting and I couldn't wait to leave! The staff at Wavelength were so understanding and made us feel extremely welcome. We were given a downstairs room as I couldn't manage the stairs, and it was perfect! Clean bedding, great AC and fan and just by the pool. This hotel is a little gem, within easy reach of the beach and restaurants. The staff here are so accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. The pool is clean, and towels are provided. Thank you all for understanding our situation and making what could have been an absolute disaster into a most welcome stay. Breakfast was the basic eggs, fruit, toast and jam, but all served with a smile. Thank you guys for getting us out of what could have been a distasterous trip. We booked for a whale watching trip online with Raja and the Whales.com, excellent!

I love to stay with the family of the Dr. Shamali. She is an Ayuveda Dr. and her husband is a western Dr. The Ayuveda Treatment is very authentic. I had full Board homemade Ayuveda food included the Panchakarma Treatment. This means everyday full body massage, some herbal bath, steam bath, herbal inhalation, flower bath and nose cleaning and intestine purigation. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. I was pampered all the time of my stay. I really recommend to stay at this place and take the chance of an authentic Ayuveda Treatment.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at saringas guesthouse orginially for 6 days then extended for 7 days as it was very good value for money. Saringa was very accommodating throughout, providing us candles and making us feel comfortable when there were government power cuts, providing us with juice and fruits free of charge at times. You have access to the whole downstairs including lounge area and garden, and as there are only two bedrooms for guests it doesn’t get crowded. The whole family were lovely, really showing they are not in it for the money but to make people feel welcome in their country. Definitely order some dinner from her as her kottu and deviled chicken was so tasty. We would definitely recommend.

A great place to stay if you're passing through Mirissa and need a place close to the beach. It's small, but rooms are clean and the price is very reasonable. I would recommend more for solo travelers. Sam the owner is a nice guy too and will help to organize tours and transport for you.
