Think of this region as the Southern Hemisphere's Switzerland, where snow-capped peaks, dozens of deep mountain lakes and emerald valleys create a fairy-tale landscape. Stretching from the Bio Bio River to the northern edge of Patagonia, it's home to picturesque German-influenced villages like Frutillar, Puerto Octay and Puerto Varas, plus wildlife-rich Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. The culture and handicrafts of the native Mapuche Indians are found in the northern areas around Temuco.

The hotel has charged me the full vat tax that tourists are exempt from it I Chile. No indication is mentioned about this in the web site and it is an additional 19%per night on an expansive rate for 3 nights. When I checked in and asked about the paper I got at the border exempting me from the tax, I was offered that only if I pay cash in US dollars, I Wiil get a reduction!!!! The toilet broke down one day and the 2 different from office staff had no idea as to what was going around them - one gave me wrong information as to the opening hours of the restaurant just down the hill and only after I insisted - she called and found out the exact info that was wrong g to what she gave in the beginning. The other one did not know anything about a festival that was advertised in town for the days I was staying there. Strongly recommend to stay out of it if you are foreign tourist

We liked it, probably would stay again if we came back. Good value! The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms looked clean. The breakfast was good with bread, ham, cheese, coffee/tea and jam. The hotel is not close to the city centre so if you don’t have a vehicle, it might be inconvenient to get to. Our only complaints is that: 1) the rooms are a bit chilly, it takes some time to warm up and 2) they have a kitchen but it can’t be used by guests, so you can only bring prepared foods or foods that do not require cooking.
