Welcome to a capital city whose story goes back at least 3000 years. In Beijing, you'll find a wealth of history, both ancient (the Hall of Preserving Harmony, Summer Palace, Forbidden City) and more recent (Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, Tiananmen Square). For the best market experience, choose the Dirt Market over the touristy Silk Market. A visit to the Great Wall, the longest manmade structure in the world, is absolutely essential.

We never stayed in this hotel. We were in 6, that we have booked via BOOKING.COM three 2 bed rooms for 2 nights. When we arrived there, we entered to the reception area that smelled really badly. The staff did not speak a word in English. Fortunately we had with us the Chinese taxi driver that brought us to this hotel, so we could communicate with them. But the worst thing was that they told us that no room booking resulted in their system plus that no room was available for us. I showed them the booking confirmation printed in Chinese. No benefit! The result: 6 strangers looking at Beijing for another hotel. The worst experience in my life!!!

I ended up staying here when my reservation at a B&B fell through. It was a last minute booking (I was at Beijing airport with no place to stay and this was the closest hotel to where some friends were staying. You can only pay with cash or with a credit card that has been issued in China. No one spoke English. Not a big deal. But the absolute worst thing was that the room smelled like a bathroom. It was subtle but after three days, I couldn't wait to get out of there. And since no one spoke English, I couldn't explain the problem. There is construction going on in the building next door so beware, though generally they kept it to normal business hours. There is a supermarket and other shops located conveniently around. There is a bus station, where you can take a bus to the subway. This place is not close to any of the sights, so plan accordingly. There are two complimentary PCs in the lobby for use and the whole 4 days I was there, only one worked. I think they offer wi-fi but i didn't use it. Bottom line, it worked for a last minute thing, but wouldn't stay here again, even if I did speak Chinese.

only good thing about hotel is the location that close to subway station . the staff does not speak English at all ! if you hadn't translator app or we chat app you cant contact with them , they cant help you for any thing ! the heating radiator is very noisy and disturbing. i booked the window located room but the reception guy requested more money for window ! i refused that and they give me without window room . that was awful , at last if you need just sleep and go , this hotel can be a option but nothing more .

A charming traditional courtyard hotel in a central location. The dark side is getting the choice of room right. The smaller rooms are relatively cheap - about 600RMB, but they are not for the faint hearted: smelly drains, basic shower onto the floor in the bathroom, window open and insecure or locked shut - no security grill, plaster dropping from the walls, little storage space (no wardrobe). We started with 3 beds in the room, but there was literally no room to walk! One of the staff has basic English, but if she is not on shift, it's sign language. After unpacking, and discovering the room's hidden problems, we asked to move another room. We were shown a delightful courtyard suite at a much higher rate - 1200RMB. We were told we could move the next day which we did, but we are pretty sure it was vacant at the time. So - all the preliminaries were rather unpleasant. Having got to the courtyard suite, we were extremely happy, as this was very well equipped, two large bedrooms, large sitting room, all with airconditioning and TV, a nice bathroom, and a water cooler. Outside each of 3 suites look onto a lovely courtyard with a delightful water feature. You feel as if you are staying as you might have hundreds of years ago, and you are so deep in the Hutong, there is almost no noise, and you are still close to many attractions. Overall a great place to stay. For others intending to come here, check the room before you pay, and before you move in so you can jump to plan B, if your first choice isn't what you want for the price. It seems little has changed from other reviewers a year ago.

I stayed at a newer (and nice) 7 days back in 2008. This one was down an alley and looked BJ worn but was well maintained inside. Had a normal-young clientele. Only a couple of blocks each direction out goes to a main thoroughfare, and a half block down where the alley turns is a small store, a mystery meat restaurant and a massage/therapy place behind it, so not a bad local. Was a several, about 5-6 block walk to the Poly Theater and the other Chinese theatres and that area. Medium/low price, not a hostel but affordable.

This hotel is very beat up. If you can get past the terrible first impression, lights taped to the ceiling with packing tape, and general disrepair, though it is actually and okay budget option. Highlights: It is right next to the No. 5 line, which is a useful line that connects to the Temple of Heaven and Lama Temple. The staff speak some English which is rare for these budget chain hotels. They were also pleasant and quite helpful. Overall, the bedding seemed very clean, and the staff seemed to work hard to clean the rooms. Some of the rooms for our party smelled pretty strongly of smoke on arrival, though they were sprayed with some sort of deodorizer. Things also worked in our rooms. Basic amenities are provided, but no bar soap or hand soap for the sink. There are a range of restaurants and convenience stores near the hotel. It is in a very typical, residential area. There is a porridge restaurant next to the entrance which does a decent Chinese breakfast. Fast food includes Yoshinoya (Japanese) and McDonalds. Budget travelers can look for a small restaurant east of the hotel with photos of foods such as fried rice, fried noodles, and wonton soup. Good and cheap. On our return to Beijing, our group stayed in a more charming budget hotel in an old courtyard for a similar price. It was a much nicer atmosphere, and yet was further from the subway, had harder beds, worse lighting, less friendly staff. This hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, but when that happens, prices will go up.

First up, this 7 Days Inn may be advertised as Bird's Nest Stadium but it's nowhere near! A good twenty minute walk will get you there but you won't see it from your hotel window. And the hotel is a bit tricky to find as well, the cabbie's sat nav unable to get a fix on it. It is a short walk from Datun Road East station on Line 5 of the easy to use Beijing Metro, though. So, having checked in and been issued with keys cards that didn't work the lift, we were shown along a corridor that really was a building site - fresh cut wood and plaster strewn, with sawdust to boot. It's safe to say that this hotel is undergoing renovation! Having gained entry to the room though, we were pleasantly surprised to find a simple but tidy twin bedded room with desk and TV, and a compact bathroom with plastic shower enclosure. Wi-fi was adequate and bottled water available to buy. Thankfully, the renovations in adjacent rooms didn't commence till a sensible hour, and the only thing to disturb our slumber were the two way radios that the staff wore as they walked up and down the corridor! So for ambience, this place is a fail. Factor in the budget price and quality of sleep though, and it scores better than expected.
