The largest city in China is also its most cosmopolitan, offering visitors a chance to experience the past, present, and future all at once. The Huangpu River splits Shanghai into two districts: Pudong and Puxi. The Pudong skyline looks like it was ripped from the Jetsons, with the bulbous Oriental Pearl TV and Radio Tower looking a bit like a two headed lollipop. On the Puxi side, you can walk the Bund riverside district to get a taste of old Shanghai.

The ambience of The Sanctuary literally lives up to its name. I booked the massage as my first holiday itinerary after 5-hour red eye flight. The therapist was skillful and the massage was rejuvenating, I caught up with the much needed sleep! The entire premises is clean and neat. Toilet is five star hotel standard. Well done The Sanctuary Spa team!

I’ve been to the Fuxing West branch twice now. I went in the early afternoon (without an appointment) both times and they were able to see me right away. The woman at the front spoke English and gave me more information on the massages they offered. I got the 90 minute Zen House Massage both times. I highly recommend.

A stylish and beautiful spa lounge since 2004 ~ French concession Hidden Gem. Down a quiet lane in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the French Concession, you stumble upon Diva Life. WOW! It’s so quaint and fun and Chinese but not Chinese at the same time… it’s just a wonderful location to while away an hour or a few treating yourself to a massage, facial, waxing, manicure or pedicure. The staff speak excellent English and are very eager to please. The manager Yvonne is extremely well tuned to western needs since she went to university in Boston, USA. Built in 1933, this historical three-storey complex was once the home of a Jewish wine merchant, H.L.MENKEN, who had moved to Shanghai from Russia with his family since 1930 due to the volatility caused by World War I. His father was once the publisher of a local Jewish daily back in St. Petersburg, since then, MENKEN had developed a broad interests and comprehension of art and wine. Soon after his move to Shanghai, MENKEN started his own business in wine trading and distribution. In 1934, MENKEN bought this house in the original French concession as his permanent residence in Shanghai and utilized the well as his personal wine cellar till the liberalization of PRC. This house has been fortunately well preserved and now is an English friendly Spa Lounge with international hygiene standard, which provides customers a truly sensational enjoyment in health and beauty field.
