Pittsburgh has been remade and reimagined. Think 24 miles of riverfront trails, beautiful parks and historic attractions. Home to 90 neighborhoods, the ‘Burgh feels authentic and unpretentious. No visit is complete without a trip to the Strip District or PNC Park, a ride up the Duquesne Incline or a stop at The Andy Warhol Museum. Architecture buffs love Pittsburgh for the amazing downtown buildings. Hollywood producers, do, too—the city has even been called the “Hollywood of the East."

Pittsburgh's Steel Valley along the Monongahela River made the steel which built America and fueled the Arsenal of Democracy for two World Wars. It was also the site of the Battle of Homestead 9 July 1892, the most consequential armed confrontation between workers and company-employed strikebreakers in American History.

There’s no better way to see Pittsburgh than with a private guide to show you the most interesting spots and share their knowledge about the city. Get to know the hidden secrets and fascinating history lying around every corner of downtown, take the Duquesne Incline up Mt. Washington for the best view of the city, see the old Heinz factory, drive up the steepest public street in America, and explore all the coolest neighborhoods of Pittsburgh! Go to the top of the Cathedral of Learning, the tallest educational building in the Western hemisphere. See Andy Warhol’s childhood home, Mr. Roger's home and studio and visit the former Heinz factory while speaking Pittsburghese “so yinz can fit in n’at.” I’ll tell you how Pittsburgh came to be known as the “Steel City,” about legendary Pittsburghers like Andrew Carnegie and Henry J. Heinz, and how the Pittsburgh Renaissance turned Pittsburgh from a smoky, industrial city into “America’s Most Livable City.”
Inclusions: Local guide, Vehicular transportation with air conditioning/heating (Steel City Tour only), Pick-up and drop-off at accommodation (Steel City Tour only), Parking costs during tour (Steel City Tour only)

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our open-air, top-deck bus tour of Pittsburgh. Our tour guide, Manon, was fun, funny, engaging, and full of facts about the sights. And kudos to our driver Ken who maneuvered through a city where every intersection seemed under construction. It was our first time in in Pittsburgh and the tour provided an excellent overview of the key neighborhoods, history, and architecture. Highly recommended.

Travel to a time before white Europeans "tamed" the wilderness of Western Pennsylvania, when Indians built mounds and walked trails. Be wary, though. It becomes the most dangerous place on Earth. We begin at the forts built at the Forks of the Ohio. We end at Logstown, the original Wild West town. Along the way, we'll be joined by howling wolves and dancing Indians. We'll visit an Indian burial mound that was carried away piece by piece until it is no more. Charles Dickens will reflect on his steamboat trip down the Ohio, and Grandmother will tell us why all the animals left Lenape land. This is a self-guided audio tour. Please download the tour using the VoiceMap app in a wifi zone to enjoy full offline accessibility.
Inclusions: Lifetime access to this tour in English, VoiceMap App for Android and iOS, Offline access to audio, maps, and geodata
Exclusions: Tickets or entrance fees to any museums or other attractions en route, Smartphone and headphones, Transportation, Food and drink
This toll road has to be the most expensive asphalt that any vehicle anywhere has to drive on. I made the mistake of getting on and what a price I paid. I went apx.12 miles and the fine folks charged me $11.50 !!! It was almost $1.00 a mile!!! They have already announced that they will be raising their rates every year for the next SEVERAL years. You can “save” yourself about 38% by purchasing an “EZ Pass” but not only is there a fee to initially purchase one, they will charge your account when your funds get low according to their determination. Do yourself a huge favor and avoid this toll road at ALL costs. It’s not worth the price.

This self-guided GPS audio tour is Part 1 of a 4-part eastbound Pennsylvania Turnpike series that eliminates highway boredom. It tells the incredible prehistoric tales of ancient Indians who once walked this trail, and the compelling historic dramas from the time that the cultures of American Indians and Europeans clashed here. This segment of the tour begins at the Pittsburgh turnpike entrance at Monroeville, ascends into the Allegheny Mountains, and ends atop them at the Somerset Travel Plaza. Your understanding of life here centuries ago will also reach a new plateau, I guarantee that! Together we will learn how to track game; how to find a husband, and what to say if we encounter any Indians -- or even a Bigfoot -- on the trail. We will pass the battlefield that helped seal the fate of Indians in this region. We'll also be near the Flight 93 National Memorial if you wish to stop and make a pilgrimage to honor brave souls. If you enjoy this tour, check out parts 2, 3 and 4!
