Sydney offers plenty of historical and contemporary Australian flavor. The marvelous Sydney Opera House looks like a great origami sailboat, floating peacefully in a harbor. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of The Rocks and then take in a street performance on the Circular Quay before heading into the Museum of Contemporary Art. The views from the Sydney Tower Eye observatory are epic – use this chance to get to know the layout of the city from high above.

Funny, we have often walked down Grosvenor Street and yet we never noticed St. Patrick's. That was our loss. A beautiful 1840s built church which is well worth a visit - whether you are religious or not. The Altar, windows, statues, especially that of St. Patrick are beautiful. We will pay another visit, as when we visited this time preparations were made for mass and we did not want to impose by wandering around.

The Rocks Discovery Museum is a free, family friendly museum which tells the story of The Rocks area of Sydney from pre-European days to the present. Housed in a restored 1850s sandstone warehouse, The Rocks Discovery Museum is home to a unique collection of images and archaeological artefacts found in The Rocks. The exhibits are filled with interactive fun, using touch screens, audio and visual elements to bring the history of the area alive.Learn about the area's traditional custodians, the establishment of the English colony and the time when sailors, whalers and traders made The Rocks their home; through to the 1970s union-led protests which preserved this unique part of Sydney for future generations to explore and enjoy.
Had this on my list for my first solo trip to Sydney. Well worth a visit in the stunning Rocks area of Sydney. Gives a good display and information of the history of Sydney from the indigenous culture through to current times, and all for free !

Excellent little park to enjoy the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House as well as watch the ferries go by. It’s pretty quiet these days with a lot of the city office buildings not fully operation and not many tourists, so parking is a breeze and there’s always a spot to sit. Nice area for a picnic or walk along the foreshore. There is pretty much always a Mr Whippy van there selling ice creams, drinks and snacks. Parking is about $8.00 for 90mins so not too bad for Sydney. Circular Quay station is approx 5-10min walk depending on how long you’ll stop to take in the Sydney harbour views. Great little park ????????

Dawes Point Park is located adjacent to the southern end of the Harbour Bridge, a 15 minute walk from Circular Quay, 10 from The Rocks. It is perfect for sitting quietly and enjoying the harbour views. There are a number of attractions nearby so some research before you travel will enhance your trip.

We weren't sure if this would be amazing or just touristy - well it was amazing. One in our group has a fear of heights - no debilitating, but it was a bit of a challenge for him - the guide was great and made sure he encouraged him and we stopped a few times to relax. Honestly though, it was best to keep moving. We did the Express Climb which gets you to the top without going across the entire arc which seemed best for those a bit nervous. It feels so much higher when you are up there - believe it to be about 40 stories - great fun, views and something to check off that bucket list!

Our cruise ship docked at the Overseas Cruise Terminal on our second day visiting Sydney. As a transit passenger from a cruise ship it’s really good with no hassle getting on/off the ship. It’s situated at Circular Quay with great walks in both directions along the waterfront and it’s a straight walk up to the city centre or to the Rocks. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops in the close vicinity with the Cruise Bar attached to the terminal being a lively bar at night.

Nurses Walk is a lovely spot. It has quite a bit of history behind its narrow little alleyways. It was created in 1979 to honour the hospital nurses who worked in this area towards the end of the 18th century. Now it is full of interesting galleries, cafes, restaurants, souvenir and other shops. Definitely worth wandering around.

Amazing history. Very spooky at night, definitely haunted. Felt very strong spirit presence in the cottage
