The 10 Best Sights & Landmarks in South Kensington, England

August 14, 2021 Layne Dawes

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

Royal Albert Hall

Opened in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall is the world’s most famous stage. It is also one of London’s most iconic and visited tourist attractions. Over the years, it has been the scene of over 150,000 performances; from Wagner to Sinatra, The Beatles to Beyonce, Muhammad Ali to Adele, and is home to the celebrated BBC Proms. Whilst the venue is most famous for its shows by night, by day this treasured building is open for coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and guided tours of the building.

A brilliant night out for my wife and I to celebrate my birthday. We started with a meal in the Verdi Restaurant, it was very good, with excellent ,efficient, helpful and friendly staff. Then we enjoyed Katherine Jenkins and others singing to a full house. Not only was she brilliant, her voice is unbelievable. The orchestra were great and were positively interacting with the audience.

Kensington High Street

Was staying nearby next to the embassies and loved the short walk each morning to the tube station where at any moment of the day, I could pop in to M&S or Whole Foods for a satisfying bite. There is no other high street in London I’d rather be in. Safe, convenient and atmospheric. Thank you, Londoners for making Kensington so easy to love.
