Roupel Bunker

Reviewed By exYorkie148 - Carnforth, United Kingdom

It is a long drive through a military area after you leave the motorway. The soldier guide gave us an excellent and informative tour in very good English. The extensive bunker complex was amazing and it was very interesting to see how it had been organised and used and quite astounding that it had all been dug by hand. We were also given a good account of the history of the area at the time of the second world war and the battles in the area. After the bunker we visited the small museum at the side of the road on the way out. This had an interesting array of artefacts and photographs.

Lion of Amphipolis

Reviewed By 401lind - Royston, United Kingdom

It wa just there, at the side of the road! It's huge. It's over 2000 years old and dates back to the time of Alexander the Great. Originally it would have been taller. It has been reconstructed on the original site, having been broken up over the years. Pieces were found in the river, the course of which has changed slightly. Fascinating. There are information boards, in English and Greek.
