Striking cotton workers were shot in 1842! Our democratic rights are fragile and badly in need of reform. Every time I pass the site I pay homage to those unfortunates who won the working people of Preston the standard of living they now enjoy. The style by sculptor Gordon Young is not conventional but was inspired by a Goya artwork. It is excellent as it captures the drama and the anquish of the injustice. Next time you pass it spare a thought for those brave men!

I love this feature, in the square alongside the Harris museum and the surrounding buildings, it is quite a decent sight. I only wish the square was better used. It's often nothing more than a walk way and a makeshift homeless camp along the benches lining the Harris wall. It's not rare to see fights and arguments here due to the rampant drug/alcohol abuse from the locals that disrespect the square.

This is where preston north end play their home matches. It is also where the football museum used to be until they moved it to Manchester. It also houses a lot of function rooms.

This is a lovely place to pop down, we come with a brew in hand and watch the world go by from our car whilst parked up, really nice place, would recommend.
