We visited the Kaylasson Temple, or Sockalingum Meenatchee Ammen Kovil as it’s otherwise known, whilst on a day trip to Port Louis during our honeymoon in October 2019. The Hindu temple is located on the outskirts of Port Louis and is dedicated to the god "Shiva". The temple itself is absolutely stunning and the pictures I took don't do it justice. The colours are so bold and striking it literally takes your breath away. Make sure your camera is charged when you visit as you will definitely use it. I would advise sensible clothing when visiting the temple as it is a place of worship, and remember to take off your shoes before you go inside the temple. There is no charge for visiting the temple and there is a large car park onsite. I would recommend spending a good hour to fully appreciate this magnificent building. If you like peacocks, you can see them at the rear of the temple. If you are visiting Port Louis, then this is something you definitely should not miss. Highly recommended – 10/10.

Our first stop of the day tour was at Aapravasi Ghat. I had no idea of this part of indentured servitude, especially in such a more recent part of history, 1834-1920. Our guide was excellent. We could almost feel the presence of those souls from China, India and South East Asia while they waited to be transshipped to other parts of the world. When we visited the grounds were open every day but Sunday

As a tour guide and a Mauritius Citizen, its one of the best place to visit because it is the Diocese and it is the main Church where all big celebrations are done ! Nice Picture inside and very calm although it is situated in the capital of Mauritius where you have thousands of car running in front gate everyday
