House and chapel of the Heralds of the Gospel in Ubatuba. Chapel with style and polychrome gothic details. A beauty in its architecture, to raise the faithful to God!

We stopped in to see this cute colonial church while on a port of call stop here. The outside is nicely maintained in white with blue trim. The church was built about 210 years ago and is considered the gem of the city. It is located about 2 blocks from the cruise ship tender dock in the heart of town. BOTTOM LINE: There are about 50 steps to negotiate going up to the chapel from the street level. The church name means "Princess House" and inside are various statues of Mary on the walls, alter and painting on the ceiling. The view from the church entry level is beautiful. Most of the city tours stop here as a part of their tours. The alter is uniquely lit in blue light which add a 3-D look to the high alter. There is a small gift shop of Catholic items to the right inside the chapel. It is not a Cathedral but a simple place to worship. MY RATING: 7/10

Our tour did a quick photo stop here. You'll only need about 10 minutes here to take in the views and photos. You really do have some great views of the yacht club, Barreiro beach, cruise ships and Ilhabela in the distance. BOTTOM LINE: There is parking for cars and buses here. The big thing people like to stop for here is the "I Love Ilhabela" modern large letter signs. Idea for selfies and personal photos. Loved the views from here. Nothing else really to see here besides the above. MY RATING: 7/10
