This national park includes a 35-mile stretch of beach on Lake Michigan for swimming plus 13 hiking trails.
We only had a day to spend here....you can easily make this a nice vacation spot...we will be back !! There are plenty of activities for everyone...trail hiking, sandy beach walks, lots of areas to build sand castles or just to sit and take in the beautiful lake shore, swimming, and also plenty of bike trails. The “Scenic Trail” drive is a must!!! There are plenty of “overlook areas” of the Dunes and the lake where you can stop and take pictures. The Dune hike is very adventurous and worth the climb in the sand !! Bring plenty of water and wear a hat !!! Going down the Dune, whether at a run, roll or stroll, makes the effort of the climb well worth it !! We stopped at the visitor center first and found the volunteers there very helpful and informative. Very fun time !

This gorgeous drive through the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is just perfect. There are a number of stops along the way to take in the beautiful views. You can also access at least 1 hiking trail through the drive. We did not do that one as it was raining, but completely enjoyed the trip.

First time ever to a winery or cidery. Tandem Cider is located off the main highway, like a Michigan secret. Great location for this. Staff was eager to explain any products we questioned. We enjoyed our first-ever "flight" of 6 assorted brews, loved 2 of them and immediately purchased a bottle of each. Very affordable! Pretty outdoor park-like seating with a nice view of the neighboring orchard. Will definitely return!

Come taste our fresh wine and cider, walk through our vines, say hello to our animals, and stay for an experience that you will not find anywhere. Once you turn onto Engles Road and wind through lush pasture to our farm, you will be transported to Leelanau County and Traverse Wine Coast's best-kept secret. We believe in connectivity. The vineyard, the orchard, the farm animals, the wildlife, the forest, and our families are all one living organism that make up our farm. By using sustainable, integrated, organic practices, we are taking responsibility for the long term viability of the whole. We are neither waiting nor hoping for change, we are working to embody it.
From the beautiful drive down a quiet dirt road, to the knowledgeable and attentive servers, to the delicious organic wines (apparently they're the only organic vineyard in Michigan), we had a perfect tasting experience. We will definitely be back to see what's new when we're in town again next year!

What a pretty town, lots of lovely shops to look in, Moomers ice cream to eat and the fish town area to explore and even take a fishing trip out We spent a lovely few hours exploring this gorgeous little town - very reminiscent of an English seaside fishing village

Get out here on your own boat if you can. Beautiful and quiet. Great views of the mainland and the dunes out here are double the size.

We stopped here on a whim and were glad that we did. The little museum had interesting historical information and it was fun to stop by the old blacksmith shop. My favorite part was the little beach. It was beautiful!

At the northern most point of Leelanau State Park is the Grand Traverse Lighthouse! You will have to pay to drive into the park. This park consists of a pretty elaborate playground, the Lighthouse Gift Shop, the Lighthouse and the Lighthouse Museum, a rocky beach, and several other interesting things to see on this property. It was a hot and humid day while we were here, but we all thought it was well worth our time and money to drive here and check this place out.
Gill's Pier Ranch is a working ranch that raises Suri alpacas and Tibetan yak. We have a farm market on the property that sells yak meat, fiber goods and local produce. Come learn more about our amazing animals and buys some truly amazing and unique meats! We offer farm tours and are adding more activities for 2016!
